If you go out and buy the latest gpu what would be best for streaming brand wise?

Nvidia have nvenc and that new broadcast software?
AMD have VCE (not sure if the same as nvenc but AMDs version or what) and the live option in adrenaline (lack of customisation options has made me use slobs instead of this).

I understand nvenc is a separate chip on nvidia gpus that takes care of the strwaming so using it doesn't affect gpu performance at all. I've no idea if VCE is the same.

VCE is a separate chip like Nvenc but it's not as good. It can cope with 720p60 or 900p60 just fine. Struggles with 1080p unless you push the bit rate up above what Twitch allows.

When they say doesn't effect the GPU at all, you should be aware that the preview screen in OBS does use the GPU but you can hide that to give you a few frames.

When it comes to streaming features, etc. nVidia does win hands down... but IMO it is worth spending the money setting up an external dedicated streaming setup if you are going to do it proper (which in many respects removes the GPU you are playing on from the equation).

If your cpu was capable of comfortably doing the stream would you still use nvenc?

I'm using a vega 64 and r7 3700x atm and cpu is handling it perfectly. Upgraded specifically from an i5 6600k because of that.
