Ok, I have almost completed my dream build order and i've come to a stall on the graphics card.

Basically, Nvidia have TXAA and PhysX and I don't know what AMD have to counter this?

I'm not sure the technologies will make a visible difference in the real world when your gaming and the likes. I'm stuck between a 680 or a 7970. At the moment the 7970 is a little faster :)

TXAA is a nice idea but games are yet to fully embrace it like they do MSAA at the moment. In theory it should smooth jaggies as much as MSAA but at a fraction of the cost in frames.

PhysX again is game dependent. Do you play games a LOT where the effects are present? If not then it's probably not a consideration and something that's more nice to have but not really that noticeable if you don't. Not many games use PhysX effects.

I don't know why you're so quick to blow your money on a 680/7970 when a 670/7950 can be had for a fraction of the cost and perform within 5% of each other. The money can be put towards things that you'll actually notice the difference on such as aesthetics, larger SSD, better monitor etc.

5% is basically nothing in performance terms.

The 680 is super expensive compared to a 670. On saying that, I own 2 of them and would happily buy 2 again knowing what I know now. If your budget allows, go for the 680 purely for the e-peen and PhysX. Nvidia's drivers will be taking a new branch in January (hopefully this will bring Nvidia back to top dog) and I for one look forward to this.

I got a PM from a mod on the NV forums. It may mean nothing but I doubt it ;)

Then AMD will release a new set of drivers to counter the new set of drivers Nvidia released.

Then we might find the Nvidia drivers screw something up,and the AMD drivers do the same, but solve something else.

Then two months later the HD8000 series might be launched!! :D

Beats the Nvidia cards.

Then some time after that the GTX700 series will be launched.

Beats the AMD cards.

Then AMD releases a super-magic never settle BIOS upgrade.

Beats the Nvidia cards.

Then Nvidia releases something else, and so on and so forth.

TBH,this is sort of like a cold war between both of them!!

You shouldn't trust things that nVidia say. :p

Remember those wooden Fermi cards?

No idea what you are on about :D
