Nvidia Physx/SLI - how will it work?

If you run 2 cards in SLI mode, I assume physx wont be able to take advantage of your cards.

How will it be possible to make it so your 2nd card is reserved for physx only? by not using the sli bridge, disabling sli somehow?

Not sure how this will work if you didn't want to use both cards for sli, but wanted to use the 2nd card for physx only.

Will there be visible driver options at desktop level?

if you only have 1 card will it automatically take advantage of physx needs also?

all the talk I've heard of getting a 2nd card just for physics makes it sound a little confusing.

Perhaps a hunt through nvidia's site might provide newer info to clear things up, but anyone want to give some input?

cant say how, but looking at people's comments i doubt its hard.. give google a go

but PhysX is nearly a complete waste of time and money.. it makes non-physx games slower and there are no good phsyx games anyway

yeah, it's all uncertain at the mo, it all depends on how many game developers will take advantage of it. I'm just thinking into the future, with thoughts to what would be better, getting an expensive graphics card for 1 slot for main rendering, and maybe a cheaper card just to handle physics, or just get 2 cards the same for SLI, and take advantage of physics at the same time. Surely you would need to connect the cards using an bridge for physics support to work as opposed to drivers accessing cards through the slot only.

Can developers automatically support both physx and havok in a game depending what hardware (nvidia or ati) you have?

there's so much tech available for the PC, but many game developers are prefering the consoles due to larger customer base = more profits :(

At the moment theres 3 options in physx.

1: Single card only does GFX and Physx
2: SLI where both cards handle GFX and Physx
3: Single card + a card for physx, so if you have say 2x9600GT you can have one do the gfx and one do the physx, or have say a GTX260 for gfx and a 9600GT for physx.

In another thread someone emailled nvidia and they said theres no plans for a SLI + a seperate physx card option, IE 2xGTX260 + 9600GT for physx
