Nvidia post new laptop drivers

Yeah, just mentioned this in the ultima mobile thread.

Thing is though, when installing the latest driver it doesn't want to recognize the 9800M GTX in my Ultima Extreme

It's about time they released the notebook drivers on the main nVidia site instead of having to wait for the laptop manufacturers to sort them out.

Anyone else with a 9800M GTX got the new drivers to work?

Anybody tested these against Dox's releases?
I have 180.84.1 Dox Quality, and even though they are brilliant, it would be nice to give the guy a break lol.

hi

well ive done some tests on my own, my system is a clevo m860tu with t9400 2.53, 2gb ram, 9800m gts.

tests with dox 180.84 3d mark 06 9438, which i was happy with, and i ran benchmark for farcry 2 with res on 1680x1050 all very high settings and averaged 31 frames. So not a bad result. The temps stayed around 78c.

But i noticed the new nvidia drivers 179.28 designed for the mobile graphics card was released, so i thought i would give it ago. ANd the tests where interesting.

3d mark06 i got 9510 so i little increase which was interesting, but on the farcry 2 tests i averaged 30 frames with the same settings, so i got a higher 3d mark but not as good on farcry2, so it was hard for me to choose which driver to use.

Then i remembered what about overclocking, ive never been able to overclock my system, with rivatuner or ntune, but as these where offical drivers from nvidia i would try ntune again, and it works. YAY!!!

first i tried a few tests changing the clocks quite small then hitting the test button and it was testing ok, i also hit the optimal button, i suppose it finds the optimal speeds for my card, the default speeds are, core 600, memory 799, shader 1500, once i click find optimal it went stupidly high, like 900 core, 1075 memory, and 1900 shader, but i didnt want to fry my laptop, so i changed it to 700 core, 900 memory, 1700 shader and ran the tests again while keeping a eye on temps, as i dont have any sort of notebook cooler. these are the results i got.

3dmarks 06 10161 temps 80c
farcry 2, 33 frames

conclusion, well i think im going to keep the nvidia 179.28 drivers only because i can overclock, but its clear to see that dox drivers are more optimized for better game performance, if dox could do the same for these drivers then we could have some interesting results with the ability to overclock

just installed these drivers on my lappy with 9600M GT, havent done any benchmarks of any type, i played GTA4 this morning and it jerked a little at medium high settings like it has during the past week i've played it. Now playing it again at the same settings.. the jerking has completely dissapeared :D will try run this on fallout 3 later too, see if theres more performance increase

@ turnerd

That's seems fair considering they are still beta drivers. It's also awesome to hear that software overclocking has been enabled :D

@ XiS111

Been reluctant to try out GTA4 because the terrible optimizations, jerkiness, etc. but might give it a go this weekend,
Vielen Dank für die Informationen

I've just been reading on Gizmodo, some people are having some slight problems with the drivers, I havent found anything wrong with them yet, they've only given me extra fps so far :D

running them here too without any problems so far
i need a modded inf file as my 7600 in my HP laptop isnt covered by these drivers
i did try the dox modded 180.84`s but had bad breakup of the graphics in motoGP 08
with these 179.28 it runs and looks great

was playing GTA4 today, and got some freezing up fora few seconds at some points, first time it happened in GTA4 so i dont know if its the drivers or its the game itself since its so flawed.

Guys, is it worth me getting these for a Vostro 1700 with 8600M GT? Having issues with drivers but tried the last latest and they seemed worse :/.

my friend has a xps with 8600M GT, he can play all the current games but at not low or med detail and settings. i've got the 9600M GT and i've been playing the recent games like gta4, prince of persia on medium high settings and 1280x800 res.

Hi guys,

I just tried these new drivers on Vista Ultimate 64 (Ultima Mobile) and after installing and rebooting I get a BSOD. Vista will not reboot until I uninstall them. Any ideas?

A little more on the problem might be helpful.
Can we get a full STOP code, and some system specs.

Sorry, the spec is the same as yours (P9500, 4GB, 320GB HDD)

The error details are:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

BCCode: 3b
BCP1: 00000000800000003
BCP2: FFFFF8000181FCD8
BCP3: FFFFFa6002F937F0
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_0_6001
Service Pak: 1_0
Product: 256_1

Several searches on google reveal this to be a potential Ram problem.

any ideas guys.. only just got the system :(
