Nvidia Profiles Question?

this is a bit confusing for me so ill try and explain as best as i can.

i have the global driver settings for AA and AF set to app controlled. and gamma correct AA and transparency AA is enabled also in the global profile.

if i make a profile for a game e.g. toca 3, and i set the games AA mode to 2xQ and i put a tick in the check box where the AA setting is made. will AF, gamma AA and transparency AA be still enabled for this game although i have not ticked it in the games profile, but have those options enabled in the global profile?

I think you need to have them enabled/ticked in the specific profile to make sure they are activated in game. Although if the settings are active in the Global Profile it should enable them, I wouldn't trust it & would make sure they are enabled in the specific profile.

Also, why would you need to create a profile for TOCA3? There should be a standard profile within the drivers anyway. Or are you using older drivers?

they only reason im creating custom profiles for the games i play is to have them enable 2xQ as the AA option. works wonders for the 7600gs i have. just was wondering that if the gamma and transparencey AA is enabled in global profile would i still need it ticked in the games custom profile or do the options which are not ticked in game specific profile use the defaults which are set in the global profile?

The only way is to test it out yourself. As I can't be sure.
Do you have COD2?

As you could try having the transparancy AA option set in the global settings & not ticked in the custom profile, then fire up the game & head for one of the tarpaulin covered gun emplacements. Get under the tarp & look up at the sky. If you can see the sun through the trap then you know if your setup works or not. It's in the 1st or 2nd level I think, so long since I've played it, but it's the only really apparant use of transparancy AA that I can instantly think of.

not got cod 2 on that pc. was wondering is there any other settings i can test this with which will be noticable?

i think its working though cuz the grass and stuff in battlefield 2 seems to have AA applied to it as well which i think only happens when transparency AA is enabled.

Sorry geeza. Should get chance to test this out tomorrow (no promises though)

*edit* sorry ran out of time today. Maybe in a couple of days time, after I've updated my gfx drivers
