Nvidia releasing GTX560SE

Seems a strange move, especially with the GK104 being released next month, supposedly at £250 which is meant to be quicker than an HD7970. You would think that the previous generation cards would be getting massive price cuts soon.

It will take at least another month or two for the GTX560SE to hit retail though. Supposedly the GK104 will be out by then and there is also the GK106 beneath it. With the rumoured £250 pricing for the top version of the 2 SKUs,what happens to the GTX550TI, GTX560,GTX560TI,GTX570 and GTX580 pricing??

Where are you getting £250 from and for what exactly?

The rumour is the top end GK104 SKU would be $299 for the reference cards and be much faster than a GTX580 overall. That would be around £230 including 20% VAT,so around £250 in the UK at launch would be about right. There is also a second cheaper GK104 salvage part too.

The first 'rumour' I seen said $349 - $399 and no performance vs the 580 was mentioned.

The last 'rumour' I heard was it was going to be ridiculously expensive and again no performance comparison was mentioned.

So presumably there's absolutely no basis for this $249 rumour whatsoever?

I never said $249,I said £250. SA said the AIB partners mentioned a $299 price point excluding tax(roughly £230 with VAT),so going by the £20 to £30 added by retailers when the HD7970 was launched, the £250 point seems about right. They also mentioned that due to PhysX it would be faster than an HD7970 in many games, being somewhat lower in non supported games according to benchmarks they saw. However, the GTX570 is that price so surely, the GK104 cannot be slower in non-optimised games or will it??

They also mentioned there would be two SKUs at launch.

the GTX 580 is $474, today , on newegg - nv will not release a card at $349 which ` kills` the GTX 580 in performance.

Right,so will they be hitting price parity with the previous cards?? Surely, the GK104 if launching at £250(or thereabouts) should be at least faster than a GTX570?? IIRC,the cheapest GTX570 cards at launch were around £280.

The GTX580 is only 10% faster than a GTX570:

So even a 15% to 20% speedup over the GTX570 would make it faster than a GTX580:

I dunno - lots of forums are touting it as an HD7970 killer at a sub £300 price point. Are they being too optimistic??

That Tiny Tom guy from Overclockers3D said on his new GTX-570 review yesterday he's signed the NDA for the new Kepler but the RRP is going to be insane.

So,its NOT the cheaper high performance card which SA mentioned:

http://semiaccurate.com/2012/02/01/physics-hardware-makes-keplergk104-fast/

According to those leaks it is a $299 GPU,with a smaller die than Tahiti, lower power consumption and PhysX will speed up games past an HD7970(and in less optimised games will be somewhat slower).

So what were they smoking unless Nvidia is releasing two different GPUs,ie, big Kepler and medium Kepler. I thought big Kepler,ie,GK112 was delayed??

It's either getting rid of excess 40nm before Kepler, or a tie over because Kepler's still a long way off. Where do you stand on it kids? The timing is too late in the game before a supposed "big launch" - I'm calling Kepler being late. Again.

This is what I am thinking now. Of course according to what Ghøst has heard Kepler will be expensive. So this means the lower end SKUs are not launching anytime soon, and the SKUs being launched next month(or thereabouts) are probably £350+ at least then.

So basically no price movement in the lower end for a while! :(
