Softpedia points to a Nvidia Developer Zone forum post revealing that the company has removed a specific Linux feature as of the v310 drivers due to the Windows platform

Unified feature set for easier development I'd imagine, if SteamOS takes off and graphics development on Windows starts to favour GL then this makes sense to me. This is probably what NV are aligning to.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is the first of many changes.

Yeah - still they should up both platforms to 4 (I know they want people using quadro for high end mosaic setups).

Agreed, much as it makes sense to standardise it's a funny one to hard limit that low given the capabilities of mid to high range cards available today.
