NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

5080 will beat the 4090 by 5-10% imo. No way a new 80 card will lose to the old gen top card.

If you go by the FC6/Plague tale benches that's where it will land.
That’s what I am thinking.

It’s usually the 70 class card that is similar to previous gen. top end card in terms of raw performance.

I sold MSI 4090 a week ago, still have the gigabyte 4090 which I was going to move that to me the media centre and get try to get a 5090

in 2 minds now, if i should sell the gigaybe "as it's old tech" and get 2 of the newer gens ...such a dilema :o

what to do

Pretty miffed NVIDIA delayed the embargo lifting to the day of sale for 5080 (30th Jan).

Although seeing conflicting reports that it’ll be 29th the day before, anyone know which is it?!

You aren't counting for the extra VRAM of the 4090...

Lets say the 5080 has 2 variants, the 16GB version and a 24GB version.. naturally the 24GB version would cost more... look at the 4090 as a beefed up 5080.. hence why people believe the 4090 will still be worth more than the 5080 and rightly so

This can mostly avoided by just turning down hyper-textures and avoiding heavy ray tracing.

Generally, I think the vram concerns are a little overstated tbh. I get that nobody wants to run out and therefore wants as much as possible - fair enough - but it’s not going to be the case that developers release games that ‘look rubbish’ other than on the 4090 and 5090 on the Nvidia side.

I have never had the fan rattle on any gigabyte card I have owned. I did read about it on the 4090 FE as some users had that issue.

Generally in the UK we tend to get a bit better quality with Gigabyte than people do in some other regions - though certain models of the Windforce cards have had a few users complaining about fan issues even in the UK - a common one actually being the stick on logo slipping off within weeks of use and making a noise on the fan.

Most of my GPUs have been Gigabyte for my main systems and never had any issues though I don't think I've had a Windforce model since the Kepler series.

Tbh I have read about good things about the aorus master series cards so one of the cards I will be getting is aorus master ice version.

It will be a fresh experience for me as I have never owned a flagship giga card before and will be interesting to see how it fares against the usual brand and sku’s I go for. I did have a gigabyte 4090 ex oc for about a week and I hated it.

As a 4090 card it does exactly as you would expect and with no coil whine as well. But compared to the suprim or strix i rather take them over the giga even with the coil whine.

I've been happy with my Aorus Master purchases so far and/or products I've had my hands on - they usually look much better in the flesh than the pictures would suggest - but they are kind of what products should be at a normal price, and so often aren't these days, rather than something particularly special for the quite high price - some thought put into the design, good selection of accessories and reassuring feel to the build/material quality but nothing that kind of makes you go wow for the price.

Was there little hype for the 4000 super series? I bought a 4070super FE on release day without issue. Haven’t seen any stock issues on FE cards since the 3000 **** show.

Nothing 100% sure but id lean towards the 29th for MSRP 5080 card reviews. It’s too much of a bad look to have nothing in advance of the launch.
