Well, at the 4090 launch, no cards were at their true MSRP. AIB entry level cards were stupid money, and didn't come down for a good few weeks/months. I expect the same, if not worse this time.
But…but that the fun part the chase…
My list of games to play is growing too quickly, if I can avoid waiting weeks or months I will lol!

I'm not patient at all, the thought of spending days F5 and in telegram groups to get a card puts me off!
That said, if the FE is as quiet as reported, I will hold out for one this time around, as would far prefer a small portable card.
If FE has a weird fan noise/hum or some other issues, then I'll go for an Astral on release day if available!

Ngl I am like you. I have no patience for things like this. And screw telegram and discord groups.
I am not even gonna attempt to get the FE as there are two place you can get them from and I think they will be hard to get hold of. And I won't buy from the other place. So with that in mind I want to see if I can get the astral even though I know it will be around 2.8-3k. But I rather pay that then get the FE from the enemy.

It is very painful. I did the notification stuff for the 30 series launch and it was painful. Lucked out with the 4090 FE. Who knows what is in store this time...
Yeah I get you. Part of me hopes the FE has some weird fan/noise issue so that it's ruled out for me, then it's an easy decision to get an Astral from OCUK!

Now of course we could all be wrong and there is plenty of stock for people who want which particular card they want. I think during the 3xxx series even though I wanted one badly on release day it was so chaotic and frustrating. The 4xxx series was chaos as well don;t get me wrong but at least there was stock for proper enthusiasts. With the decline of crypto and the infancy of AI maybe that aspect helped.
But with AI starting to gain traction and even though I have no interest in it at all there will be tons who want the MFG and it AI abilities. And while I hope to get one I don;t think it will wow me like when the 8800gtx, 1080ti and 4090 came out. Had the 4090 came out at 800 ofc we know this was never going to be the case, it would have taken most peoples choice as one of the greatest nvidia cards ever released. It still of course is one of Nvidia's greatest just not when you fact the price aspect in.

5090 Astral or 5090 FE + 5080 FE? (assuming they were easy to get). That's the sort of price difference i'm expecting.
Based on ‘hidden pricing’ you can find online, I’m expecting the Astral OC to come in at £2,639.99.
That’s a whopping £700 more than the FE.
If it reviews well, I could be game at that price. Maybe… but the FE is very temping for a lot less money.

Astral is a top contender for me, would also like more info on the msi vanguard, havent seen if we (uk) are getting the launch edition cards, im hoping we do as i am quite a fan of the looks of it!
The only thing that worries me about the FE is the cooling, its more than half the size of any AIB and a lot less cooling, but Nvidia may have worked some magic with their new design.
I also dont think an FE would suite my build sadly, otherwise id be going with one of them (cooling review pending). I know its only me and my partner who ever sees my pc, but i like to have pride in things i do and the 5090 will be the cherry on top!

jesus, my 4090 already gone, maybe I should have waited, the last 2 cards i purchased on day one, 3090 n 4090 were all top tier cards being the Amp Extreme, spending 2 grand on the 3090 and 4090 was like wtf am I doin, prior to that I always was happy with the 1080ti and 2080ti's
This time around forking out 25 hundred quid for a 5090 thats near 3 grand, I swear for that money you could build a whole system
Also a lot of people from western and eastern Europe and neighbouring countries also tend to buy from the UK, they get it posted to distribution centres or UK based international courier companies who then forward their orders directly to them, I think this way they avoid paying ridiculous taxes and import charges

You will have got a good price for your old card i assume by selling it early. When and how much did you sell your Zotac 4090 for, out of curiosity?
well 4090 went for asking price 1470 only 4 days ago and I got like 20 offers from different people who offered me a thousand quid, I ignored as couldnt be asked to respond, no one will get a 4090 for a grand, well not now, 4090 still is a cracking top end card, 2nd best from a 5090
Note that when the 3090ti was released I bought that for 1950, when the 4090 was released a year after I bought the 4090 on day one, then I sold my 3090ti for 1050 pounds, now if I sold my 3090ti before the 4090 release I would have got at least 1500, so thats why I sold before 5090 release
I think those who buy a 4090 now will get a good deal for 1500ish, if they want a 5090 then they need to be prepared to spend an extra 1000 pounds
