NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Is there any word on whether Nvidia will be putting up more FEs at some point? I'm more interested in 5080. Don't think I can quite pursuade myself to go to a 5090!

I'm wondering the same, I am looking for the 5090 though. What's the best strategy post launch now? stock alerts / discord?

So my earlier comment about FE being sold in person at the other place launch event. Someone just replied on twitter to me this

"Apparently Nvidia were onsite and decided to let those queuing up to have them. Especially the 5090FE cards, which were thin on the ground already. Scalpers were not the issue this time round. Well spent a straight 4hours refreshing for a 5090, when there was nothing online."

If true Nvidia screwed us over twice lol. Hardly any stock online as most were sold at this event. Which by there own rules shouldn't happen as it's supposed to be strictly via their website and get fulfilled by said company.
That's really rubbish of them, they specifically stated that they wouldn't be available.

Just a shambles this launch has been

5080 is looking pretty good when overclocked (timestamp for benchmarks):

5090 is beast mode tho.

Edit: sorry if already posted!
I saw this and thought the same, even not overclocked the AIB cards seem like they might be a bit better than the FE.
Of course they're also comparing to 4090 and 4080 FE cards I imagine, so comparing AIB 5080s to AIB 4090/4080s might show similar gaps.

Although the FEs performed about as well as most of the AIB cards with the 4000 series didn't they?

Yep - I've signed up to a stock alert site with a discord so I get pinged and will regularly F5 the Nvidia site when I have time!

I'm tempted to pre-order one of the cheaper AIBs from another store but ETAs aren't good - that might still be the quickest route to owning one though

My hazy recollection, which may be wrong, was that many 40 series cards were hard power-limited via their BIOS, which could be flashed if you really wanted to go all out.

But yes, really not a bad showing for the 5080 at all!

What games are people even playing on these 5090s that are worth playing.
MH:Wilds, Ninja Gaiden 4, Wukong just to name a few.

I get that I'm a bit of an odd one out though with this being my first time with a gaming pc after being console all my life. Bit off a crap time to buy with how gimped the 5080 is (esp in regards to the vram) and the 70 cards are just too weak.

Well I got a 5090 Suprim in the end. From 2pm till 3pm refreshing and seeing nothing but b0rked websites and no buy buttons I naffed off on the school run fully dejected thinking I'd be in this for the long haul.

Back from school run, just happened to refresh the 'other site' and PRE ORDER was glowing with angelic heavenly music in the background. YOLO'd onto it just so I didn't have to send my life watching trackers and refreshing sites.

Emails are dropping in and est. delivery is 31Jan to 4th Feb which is a hell of a lot better than the est. 28th may it said on my initial order confirmation. I do hope that's true. Please please please
I've got the same ETA on my 5090 Suprim, from the same place. Could be a mistake, hopefully they know they have a big allocation due tomorrow. Hmm!

the email you get is just a generic one assuming they have the stock, the product page estimate is more accurate

I've just ordered a card that says end of March est, but the payment confirmed email still said 3rd-4th feb but that would just be the default delivery if they shipped it tomorrow, which they obviously can't as its a pre-order not an instock order

Strange thing is their FAQ states when you track the order it's a live estimate, when I track mine it's saying 3-7th feb yet my email says 31st Jan - 3rd Feb. I'm still expecting a long wait. I got my order in pretty much around the time the pre order buttons went on around 1520. When I ordered it claimed 7th feb for me, but then within a few minutes the page said 2-12 weeks.

Decided to exit pc gaming. I'm selling up.
Will reconsider when gta 6 comes out on pc. Already got a ps5 pro so that should tide me over.

(I am very much, if I can't have it all, I'll have nothing.)
