Hmmm - it's probably ok*, but Wikipedia rated the 8 pin connectors at 288WNote what they say about different 8 pin cables generally. Some 8 pins supply 300watts from the PSU side.

NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion
Especially if it's a cable carried over from the 40 series as the 5090 draws up to 56 Amps through a (the newer)cable designed for 60 Amps. 56A.... that's 672 Watts. The Connector is specced for 684 Watts Max, so already it's gone from a frankly terrible 1.1 Safety factor to basically no...forums.overclockers.co.uk
* I'd imagine Corsair have sourced specific connectors that have higher rated current per pin than the 8A mentioned - indeed I think the Molex catalogue listed 10A parts as available which gives more headroom.
(But other lesser PSU manufacturers may not have, or may have used incorrect gauge cable, hence the warnings in the past not to use both 6+2pin connectors on a branch with older PSU/graphics cards)
Me too, woohoo!Got my 5090FE dispatch email![]()
Me too, woohoo!
Remember that old meme where a t-shirt has some text on it like "I'm a x technician. If you see me running, try to keep up" where x is arctic silver/bomb/etc. We need one that says "I'm 5090 owner. If you see me running, try to keep up."Let me know when you fire () it up, so when I see a miniature mushroom cloud, I'll know it's you!

That’s with a third party cable like cablemod then right? I have x2 8 pin with the 4090 and thinking x4 might be the way to go.I'm 50cm away from an open test bench set up, and i'm dangerousI'll be using a 4x8pin>12pin cable (no adaptors), and see what happens

5080 at MSRP ( that's the important part!!!) is a much better buy than the 4090 is currently selling for .... problem is with the prices certain companies ( cough , cough ) are charging for their 5080 stock it makes them 2 grand 4090 more appealingWhY buY a 5080 thooo whEn yoo caN juS bUy a UsEd 4090?????
The whole situation is messed up. It's a second hand product FFS, should be half price! But apparently it's still a GREAT OPTION.5080 at MSRP ( that's the important part!!!) is a much better buy than the 4090 is currently selling for .... problem is with the prices certain companies ( cough , cough ) are charging for their 5080 stock it makes them 2 grand 4090 more appealing![]()
