NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Note what they say about different 8 pin cables generally. Some 8 pins supply 300watts from the PSU side.
Hmmm - it's probably ok*, but Wikipedia rated the 8 pin connectors at 288W :(

* I'd imagine Corsair have sourced specific connectors that have higher rated current per pin than the 8A mentioned - indeed I think the Molex catalogue listed 10A parts as available which gives more headroom.

(But other lesser PSU manufacturers may not have, or may have used incorrect gauge cable, hence the warnings in the past not to use both 6+2pin connectors on a branch with older PSU/graphics cards)

Good to note, thanks. What a total minefield this is.

Yes, I have faith that we can at least trust what Corsair are saying about their own connectors.

Let me know when you fire ((:) it up, so when I see a miniature mushroom cloud, I'll know it's you! :p
Remember that old meme where a t-shirt has some text on it like "I'm a x technician. If you see me running, try to keep up" where x is arctic silver/bomb/etc. We need one that says "I'm 5090 owner. If you see me running, try to keep up."

Can you still order an FE if you've cancelled an AIB order with the other place?
yes

i was able to order a FE even though i have a 5090 Astral preorder in place ... i wasn't sure if it would go through as supposed to be 1 per customer but i think as its sold direct by Nvidia then sort of exempt from that rule

I've sold a few GPU on the bay now and touch wood never had an issue .... i am past the 30 day period now as well so its a done deal . for what its worth it seems i let it go cheap as they are selling for £2000 now which to me is insane considering they never cost anything like that new , were £1700 brand new at release

5080 at MSRP ( that's the important part!!!) is a much better buy than the 4090 is currently selling for .... problem is with the prices certain companies ( cough , cough ) are charging for their 5080 stock it makes them 2 grand 4090 more appealing

The whole situation is messed up. It's a second hand product FFS, should be half price! But apparently it's still a GREAT OPTION.
