NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Have Nvidia abandoned gamers for AI? Their contempt for gaming will see AMD take a lot of the market back, especially if the 9060 cards are crackers. AMD seem to have no issues producing thousands of card for launch.
Nope they have abandoned us all. Ai is a trend for them as they are the market leaders once this dissappears then they will abandoned that just like all the other things theu have ditched in the past.

I don't think AI is going anywhere to be honest.
Not going anywhere or not going to see a decline in interest/funding? If it's the former I'd disagree as it does have some uses, if it's the latter only time will tell but we've already seen two major events in the history of AI when interest/funding dried up so it depends how much faith you put on history being a good predictor.

so this week theres gonna be a mass influx of Asus Astral 5090s coming in, looks like they will be priced at 3 grand each, anyone gonna take the plunge for a fancy top end Astral, best of the best?

The last time I had Asus cards were the Strix 1080ti and 2080ti, after that I went to get Amp Extremes 30-40 and now 50 series, primarily because its is a top end brand with good clock rates and the awesome 5 year warranty!

Not for £3k. I would go to £2.7k, maybe £2.8k at a push.

Nope, MSRP or bust for me this time around.

Or I’ll keep the previous card and buy a 9070XT for my son instead.

Indeed yeah, I suppose I'm just a bit paranoid because reports of the third-party cards doing it are really sparse at the moment. I think I've seen four different people, and that is it. I had a 3060Ti prior as I was hanging on for the 5000 series before I replaced.

Nor me, but I guess I reasoned that it would only be pulling 'maximum juice' when under load. I did run 3DMark which was heavily on the utilisation, had no issues then. I'll give Cinebench a go, and perhaps also the 3DMark stress test option.

I'll give it a try.

Sorry for the tag - I couldn't find a way to message.

I also have the x870 MAG Tomahawk running the 7E51v1A16 bios with a 9800X3D and 3080. Hopefully, I'll be able to snag a 5090 sometime in the future.

Are you still experiencing any issues? If not, did dropping to gen4 solve your problem? I've read about a lot of problems with this mobo. Mine has been working well on 7E51v1A16 so I'm hesitant to update BIOs since I haven't had any issues.

Oof - maybe collect something less onerous? :p

So a long time ago I use to collect headphones and build hifi systems around them.

I had some of rarest headphones in the world topped off i was one of only 18 people in the world to get a brand new sennheiser HE90 better known as the 'Orpheus' and if I wasnt collecting headphones i was collecting esoteric and extremely expensive DACS/CD players.

I like collecting and more importantly esoteric and rare stuff.

Graphic cards, cpu, in all honesty is one of my cheaper hobbies.

Well my Astral has all its ROPS yay

The power draw on default is right on the limits though. Any pushing of the power limit is a definate no go.

Dropping the power target to 90% however looks much happier.
