You could keep what you have for 5 years+ and be fine.
I will stick to doing system upgrades ever 7+ years and upgrade gpu every gen. I see it as £300 or so every couple of years.

Hi guys i have an sf1000 3.1 5.1 and my 5090fe in games goes crazy on the fans with black scree, the gpu is ok because on my main rig all is ok with a seasonic 1600w, the itx pc has a 7600x3d, 32 gb ram and nothing special or power hungry, i am confused because i see a lot of people using the sf1000 with 5090 without any issues, for now i have used onlky the cable that came with psdu, i am planing to use the adapter that came with the gpu, has anyone encopunter this issue with sf1000 or with 1000w power suplies
Had a similar thing with my SF1000 with my 5070Ti - and that was because I was using the cable that came with the PSU.
Once I swapped to the adapter from the GPU (became more difficult to manage cables) it sorted all problems.

And then after I swapped from the included PSU cable to the adapter because of the same issue (black screen, fans going to 100% immediately then crashing).

I am done with this BS, the nvidia adapter doesnt even go in all the way no matter how much force i put on, it will break before it will go in, the corsair one goes in all the way nicely, and there is no difference in between them, ia m building computers for a living for over 20 years now, i haven't encountered something more stupid than thisYeah, got a few pictures of my before adapter build.

Just observing the prices at retailers and it seems everywhere is up to 2.9k pretty much as the lowest asking price right now, at best option, and most are over 3K now even on auction sites looking at 2.7 to 2.8k now for new/used.
I expect we will see the price end up at 3.2 to 3.5 in the coming months for brand new stock.

Maybe they will call it 5080 Ti Super.. Knowing nvidia they will sell them as 5090 24GB edition.. Anyways let's hope they made a lot of cards sat in warehouses and have bins full of the gpu chips that can't be used as full blown 5090s..

Whilst I have a system with a 5080 (and a TG WireView Pro) that has this connector, I’m comfortable that a 5080 doesn’t max out this connector, so I am so glad I sold my 2x 5090’s earlier this year with 9070XT’s. The SFF 5060 I have uses 1x8pin connector.

The wireview is a little redundant with a 5080 no? Or did you have it left over from when you had the 5090s?

I had it left over.
I used it on my Palit Gamerock 5090. I didn't need it on my Asus 5090 Astral LC card as it had sensing built into the software/socket.
That video gave me a bit of a wobble the other day. I'm also using a 5090FE with the supplied nvidia Squid adapter. At the time I read a fair few pieces saying it was actually likely to be 'safer' than the single cable route. ********.
As such I spent a few hours looking into getting a Wireview pro II - the new "wired" version is up for pre-order that fits the FE.
Then I thought WTF am I doing? I have over 2 years warranty left yet on this card. May as well ride that out, and then in 2 years look at getting a Wireview or similar - Thermal Grizzly offer a 2 year warranty on it for any 'power melts', even if your GPU is out of warranty. And they will repair or replace your card. So that would be 5 years cover for melt-gate issues with the relative smallish £ outlay for a Wireview or whatever might be out/better in 2 years time. The fact we even have to think about this crap is obviously wrong, but what are we to do? May as well support actual engineers like Der8auer at Thermal Grizzly.
So that's my plan I think. Or, might get a WV sooner for peace of mind. I plan on keeping this card a long time the way things are going. What do people reckon?

I pre-ordered my "wired" WV pro the day after I saw the announcement. I don't want to risk getting a "refund" instead of a repair. I'm currently running Corsair's thermal protect cable as a band-aid until I get the WV.
I'm really impressed with the idea Corsair came up with. I think it's very simple and cost-effective, but it doesn't monitor the root of the issue. It probably will be effective at preventing melting, but I want to be alerted at the onset of current issues. Corsair's solution steps in after the issue has been present long enough to heat things up (but before something actually melts).
