Nvidia Shadowplay - Question

Simple one really.

I used it a few times to record some commentary videos at 4k, but it seemed to impact performance quite badly.

For instance, Dying Light was 35-50fps whilst recording and 60-90fps with it disabled.

Is that just because I was recording?

OR

Does it actually have performance impact as soon as it's enabled? I only realised I left it on because I had a green FPS counter in the corner whilst watching a movie.

It was certainly a big hit.

Sort of makes the videos a bit pointless if they were supposed to show how games perform with Titan X SLI
