Nvidia Shield Pro and Anthem MRX720 - Losing audio

Anyone else ever had this problem? I realise this specific combo might be slightly unique, but wondering if anyone with a Shield or MRX720 individually had issues as well.

I'm finally getting my whole kit cobbled together and I'm noticing that sometimes my Shield is starting but no audio is coming out. Not sure if it's a HDMI cable problem (using an Amazon basics HDMI 2.0, 50cm long, cable at the moment. I've ordered a HDMI 2.1 compliant, 2m, optical one so I can move the Shield to where I want it anyway) but preparing myself for the worst in that it's some setting somewhere I don't know about that I need to change.

When everything is working, it's working great, full ATMOS 7.1.4 sound, but it can either:

1) Not start correctly with the Shield and I don't get any clicking in the menus
or
2) Work fine in the menus but then stop working if I skip around a film (just trying stuff out at the moment so skipping around to the "fun" scenes)

I can resolve it by...
1) 90% of the time skipping back and forth in a film
2) 10% it's just like it has totally failed to sync the audio and I either need to: restart the nvidia shield, restart my AVR, unplug/plugin the HDMI cable - all options here work immediately.

Cheers in advance!

Hiya

I’ve got the latest Shield TV Pro (can’t remember which year) and an MRX 520 and I can’t say I’ve had any issues with audio.

Worth trying to plug the Shield directly into the TV and then using ARC. See if you encounter the same issue

Yeah, might have to try that in the other room. Using it in cinema room (with a projector) at the moment so AVR is the only option for sound. Got my new cable and it didn't solve the problem :(

If you want, I can do some more involved testing. We can try and match up the set up and best as possible and I’ll see if I can mimic your issue.

I might take you up on that. Although I'd be hard pressed to know what I could ask you to change/test. It's a fairly evident problem for me as it happens pretty regularly, although never while actually playing something, which is why I've avoided buying a replacement player/avr. It's just if I start something new, or stop/start/rewind etc, but I can solve it in seconds/minutes.

Thanks in advance, I may well ping you with screenshots of settings :)

Could be basic things down to the app you use/sound settings on the AVR/sound settings on the shield

But yes, do ping me if you need anything
