I use local hard drive on my Shield Pro. However it constantly lose the drive (4TB) then needs to re scan it before the media can be seen or played.

Driving me crazy. Anyone else have problems.

Mine always shows the drive there so doesn't need to rescan, however being a USB HDD the drive powers down after a while of no use into a sleep state then can sometimes take 20-30 seconds to spin up again and sort it's self out before media can be played.

I think it's this stupid WD game drive. I think it's constantly going to sleep. Slow to start up. Could never find any software to turn it off. Might try with a SSD see that improves it.

Have you checked the specs, is it getting enough power from the Shield ports? It does sound like a drive issue though. When I used a USB harddrive, I never had any problems with it. Now it just streams stuff over my network from a server, even easier.

I tried a USB Key no problems. I think its sleep mode on the drive. Grrr.

Do you use it for the plex install & metadata as well?

I moved my plex install onto an external NVME drive, then use the WD Mybook for all the media. It's annoying waiting 20-30 secs for the media drive to spin up when I play a movie but plex it's self is still browsable during that time as all the metadata etc is on the NVME.
