Does anyone own one yet or have any thoughts on it? My missus bought me one last week for my birthday. She must have got it from the US Amazon site as it has the US adapter and as far as I'm aware isn't out in the UK til later in Q3.

I must say it is pretty impressive so far, especially as it is running Android and links very easily with my desktop and GeForce.

Not had any issues apart from Witcher 3 doesn't play 100% smoothly on it from my GoG Library but the steam games run really well. Seems like a great piece of kit though will reassess once Grid becomes a subscription service.

Concerning the adapter-did it have a UK one in there with it?
I didn't get an adapter, just use a travel plug. I have the 16Gb model

looks like there is a a recall of the Shield Pro now, faulty HDD's it seems

Seen this, they seem to be replacing the entire product as opposed to just the HDD.

I'm quite impressed with it to be fair, the Grid is good, though we'll see what it's like when the subscription comes in. Installed Kodi but not played around with it yet. Streaming from desktop is fine though a couple of games have issues with scaling and brightness, namely Witcher 3 (MGS phantom pain is brilliant when streamed to tv)

My main gripe is with the GeForce software on desktop, it always feels laggy and prine to crashing, even on the fully released version, don't even bother touching the betas for it anymore

Anyone else taking the plunge now it's out in the UK? it's quite well priced in my opinion, think I paid a little more than it's retailing for in the UK, I didn't get the remote, only the controller. Going to try the new update out tonight. :D

Not sure to get one of these or wait and see how the steam link fares as i only want to stream my games. Dont want to stream from the nvidia service or have any of the tv stuff as i have a fire tv for that. Not sure though, will have to be patient! We should see reviews for the link soon though as i remember if you ordered it early you get it in october

Told you mate just pop round my house and have a play on it , MGS comes out pretty sweet on it :D I'm free any night this week once the cleaner goes to the expo in London.

Hmm wondering whether to get this. I wonder what will stream better, this or Steam link

To be fair, this does pretty well for streaming via GeForce. I think they'll both do the job, maybe argue that GeForce is less reliable than Steam. There's a case for both I suspect but I'm happy with the Shield.

So this has been tempting me although I am using ati currently so would definitely need to change my card first but then I read this today...

Apparently 4k 5.1 streaming is rolling out, anyone tried this?

Sadly we don't have a 4K TV in our house. Yet.

This is a cool piece of kit. I don't have a PC and would like to know if streaming games would be acceptable on this thing or is the latency poor.

I realise this may be connection dependent. If it helps I did a test and a ping of 10ms 72mb download and 18mb upload.

I didn't have any issues streaming the Grid games. I suspect it's more dependant on their servers more than anything as your internet speed will have no issues.

I guess I could try it and if it's no good send it back? Would this be a douche move? I really want this thing.

Not really, it's worth giving it a go. The new steam box looks ok but I haven't seen anywhere to say you can stream anything other than Steam Library.

Iv been thinking about getting the nvidia shield purely for kodi and playing games on my tv but if I get and extra long hdmi cable and could just use my tv as a second monitor. Is there any benefit of getting the nvidia box if I can just do that?

They do have the streaming service (free for three months and then £7.99 a month) which has a few decent games. TBH if you can run your tv from you PC then it's probably not worth it unless you really want it.

My TV in the living room is at the furthest possible point in the house to my PC upstairs so the shield plugs a gap quite nicely

Got mine today (didn't expect it on a Sunday but the couriers must be doing overtime for Black Friday :p )

I had Gamestream up and running and it is very cool indeed, GTA V worked perfectly. The only problem is coming from 1440p on 27 inch to 1080p on 50 inch in the living room my eyes have been spoiled until now but it's still good fun.
Anyhoo, quick question. When I'm gaming is my GPU actually "driving" two displays - like as if I had two monitors hooked up directly to my rig?
If that was the case that's bound to impact significantly on VRAM etc?

I assumed it just output at the resolution of the TV or device being streamed to. So in effect my 32" 1440p monitor is displaying it at 1080p on the 55" TV and the data is being streamed not replicated on both screens if that makes sense.

I really need to read in to putting a custom rom on, many people seem to be having quite good results with it.
