Nvidia spends $2million on Crysis 2

Yeah it's just one game, but is there any bigger games than crysis 2 on the PC horizon,

Well we have a certain game thats coming out thats been long awaited for over 12 years. Id argue thats bigger than the sequel to a game that was renound for being a pig to run and not looking as good as the videos crytek put about the web prior to its release.

I wouldnt get your hopes up about Deus Ex, everything I have seen states PS3, its going to be a console port

Just because it's a console port, doesn't have to mean it's a bad game...jesus. Was COD4 a bad game? Was GTA IV a bad game for gameplay (best not talk about performance). Was Bioshock a bad game?

Again, just because it is a port from console, does not have to mean that the game itself is bad...PC gamers really do give themselves bad name sometimes.

What the Duke lol, can't say I'm to keen on it personally.

Im just interested in seeing what Crytek have to cry about this time if the game doesn't sell as well as they'd hoped. Crysis was all about the jungle environemnt and that was the reason it looked good, going urban to me just makes the game look pretty bland. Should also be interesting to see how the game runs after the first game and its supposed "mislabelled settings".

COD4 MW2 was a terrible game on PC, as was GTA IV. Bioshock didnt look and feel like a console port, it played like a proper PC game

If it looks and feels like a PC game then its fine, its if its just a shoddy port then it wont be, its not hard to understand, it depends on how much effort they put into the PC version IE optimisation rather than just sticking it across and changing the controls

If I understand the article correctly NVidia are actively adding a benchmark feature that otherwise wouldn't exist, the benchmark will probably be used for years to come so it will be a good investment for NVidia and a very useful tool for the enthusiast community whether the game itself stinks or not.

Assuming the benchmark is actually comparable to gameplay numbers, if not then its just another sad epeen competition

Love the last paragraph, sums up the first game perfectly;

"The original Crysis received rave reviews but we thought it was kind of boring. It's about a bloke in a magic suit."

lol

Yeah it's just one game, but is there any bigger games than crysis 2 on the PC horizon, it's a massive coop for nVidia.

As far as actual gaming goes.. it's not very important at all. It's most likely to just be another generic fps, just with prettier graphics than most of them. Stuff like Bf3 and civ5 are much more important.

It is however, extremely important in regards to benchmarking. It'll be up there with a new release of 3dmark. The thing is.... everyone who's into benchmarking knows you've got to run multiple programs to get comparible results..... so it's going to be pretty obvious if they skew the results in favour of the green-team. If they put too much bias on one maufacturer, it's going to hamper it's use as a benchmark completely.

Crysis was a decent shooter and looked awesome, I think it was a mistake though to release it with such high system requirements, we still don't have a single GPU solution that can play this game with acceptable framerates all the way through on very high 1920x1200 even forgetting AA (and before you boys that run the benchmark and say but I get 50fps average try the last level).
