Hey folks,
Sold my Fury so I'm running a 1070 temporarily until RX Vega (or Ti if vega blows). Games look stuttery as **** now though.. it's reporting good frames, like in Rocket League it's registering around 120 and Tekken is stable locked at 60 - but the movements look jerky. You know like how 15fps looks like motion but it's not "smooth" -- it's kind of like that. Issue happens on my XR34 and Red Eagle (144hz). Is this a common complaint? Any ideas?

You have probably only done this however did you use a driver cleaner to get rid of any remaining AMD drivers etc.? Always a possibility of a conflict if not.

Probably sounds silly, but both those monitors are freesync, which your Fury would work with but now you're on Nvidia freesync will be disabled, so even the slightest fluctuation in fps will be noticed far more than with an AMD card running freesync

Also might be worth checking that there's no frame skipping going on here https://www.testufo.com/#test=frameskipping

I know with my LG 1440p freesync ultrawide, it works fine @ 75hz with an amd card in freesync, but if I set it to 75hz with an NVidia card it frame skips, so I have to run it @ 60Hz

Yeah I'm getting frameskipping, took 5 photos. 2 of them had 3 blocks together (good) and 3 had 2 blocks space 1 block (bad) :/ This is why nVidia should **** off with their moneygrabsync and join freesync =(

And yeah I knew Freesync was disabled - but when your fps is consistently well above the max refresh rate it doesn't really matter (I played with freesync off on the 144hz panel anyway as freesync limits the screen to 120hz). So you think the remedy is to run the XR34 at 60hz? I'll give it a try. Looks like I'm buying RX Vega however good it is now :/

You could try running the XR34 @ 60Hz and see what happens. You should be able to see the frame skipping without a camera @ 75hz as the fps at the bottom of the webpage will fluctuate above and below the target refresh rate (well it does on my LG34UC88)

It is annoying. I'm in the same boat. Vega is literally my only hope of being able to run my monitor @75hz with freesync in games at a half decent setting. Currently it's being run @60Hz on an Nvidia GPU. IF VEGA is either underpowered or overpriced I think I'll be giving PC gaming a miss for a long while as I'm not selling this monitor to have to pay out extortionate amount more for a g-sync equivalent

Check what the refresh rate is set to in Windows, I had this issue when I switched card as the refresh rate had dropped to default.
+1

As you can see from my Sig, I am currently running a 1070 on a BenQ XL2730Z which is 144Hz Freesync and I also had to go into windows and reset the monitor to 144Hz. There is still a slight bit of tearing (Admitedly you gotta look hard for it) but with 144Hz screen it is still great to game on with the 1070. I do have to make a good point though, that this 1070 is quite a bit cooler running than my Fury Tri-X....gotta give them that...efficiency seems excellent, fair play. Do get smoother gameplay with Fury and Freesync though. IMHO it's not all about the highest FPS but how smooth your experience is during gaming.
:)

When my 7950 died last August I bought a 1060 to replace it and a lot of my games looked a hell of a lot smoother on the older card, Rocket League being a prime example. 10 months later I still get some inexplicable stutter with my 1060.

Also try testing with FastSync (not FreeSync) on and off in the nVidia control panel - it can cause stuttering when on in some cases but when it works is nice to have.

No dice.

Refresh rates are set right in both nVidia control panel and windows - and the OSD on each screen reports correct too :/

I'll try this one.
