Hi all,

I work for a financial services company, and I've got a developer that's wanting to use MATLAB for some parallelized computing. I'm looking at the Tesla 448 CUDA core architecture (Tesla C2050 3GB card) versus the GTX 580 3GB and I can't seem to see a great deal of difference (apart from about £1500 in price) - can anyone point out why I'd use a Tesla over a GTX 580 in this instance?

Cheers :)

Different firmware, high quaility components & better aftercare.

If its possible just get a 580 & flash the firmware, used to be able to do with 8800

Hi there - this question has kinda raised it's head again. Can someone help me with some fors/againsts as to why I'd use a Tesla over a GTX card (excepting the GTX 680 of course) - is it just that there's more RAM and better/longer support on the Teslas? My inclination is to go with quad GTX580's rather than Teslas in a few machines I'm building at the moment unless I'm totally missing something? Cost seems to be an issue - they're about £1500 apart in price...

Hi there,

Here is some more information on tesla vs Geforce graphics cards.

As you can see the main differences are the higher double precision performance, much more VRAM, firmware/drivers made specifically for these tasks and better service.

If you're doing this professionally you should be doing it right, not trying to cut corners.
Tesla offers a great deal more then G-Force, just check the above link cmndr andi posted.
