PhysX support added to GeForce 8 and 9-series cards, and a bundle of demos too,5 August a PhysX pack goes out, which enables PhysX for all GeForce 8 and 9 series GPUs, and also the GTX 280 and 260.’ The pack not only includes a WHQL PhysX driver, but also features various PhysX demos.

So is this still going ahead for tomorrow then? Haven't heard much hype about it, thought it would have been a pretty big thing over at NV.

because some stream processors will be switched from graphics to physics. Since Physics is currently handled by the CPU, it is unlikely that it will, when run on a GPU, increase overall performance by the same or greater amount as will be lost from the loss of stream processors.

Unless I've misunderstood, and these drivers unlock some new hardware on the card.

AFAIK atleast with current games they don't push the stream processors enough for the physx to cause a performance hit... how much of a hit it will be with more intensive future titles I don't know.

Not all games use all stream processors, this is why Physics can be done on the G92 and beyond cards this is why performance can be increased when Physics options are turned up (or no hit seen due to the CPU not having to do those tasks)

so, when are these available then ? ?
i thought i read that this type of stuff wasnt going to be available until nvidias bigbang2.
