Am I being dim witted, or is there such a thing where you trade in your old card with a bit of cash for a new one? I'm selling my 980ti when it comes time to upgrade to a 1080ti.

Thanks!

i think its the evga stepup your thinking of, dont know much about it to be honest but im pretty sure you will be out of luck with a 980ti and if its not evga then no chance

It is EVGA! So I've got that going for me. Is it a case where if you've bough X amount of months before the release of a new GPU?

i think so but the likes of kaap and gregster will be able to give you better info

"knowing you can upgrade to the latest parts that come out within the first 90 days from your purchase. "

So yea, unless something is bought 90 days before the new release. You're out of luck. Doesn't seem like a great deal to be honest.

There were rumours/hints that nvidia would do a 980Ti -> 1080Ti step up a couple of months back. I don't know if it was ever confirmed, denied or left to spin in the rumour mill.

It used to be within 1 year but that was nerfed sadly :(

1 year made more sense, 90 days is a bit meh.

Nvidia apparently giving priority to 980ti owners for the 1080ti but no info on how that looks at present.

I have never known a year but I did get a 180 day one with my EVGA 680 but nothing came within that time, so wasted away :(

I figured if it did exist would probably be for a founders edition only. Sold my 980 Ti's while they're still worth something.

I thought it was more that 980 Ti owners would get first refusal for 1080 Ti preorders?

Sell it in the MM. EVGA cards are sought after due to the transferable warranty. It'll work out the same as a step up, because the most EVGA would give you for it is market value anyway.

If you think about it, the 90 day thing is an advantage because it will have depreciated badly due to short length of ownership, so once you've had lengthy ownership then there's no point in EVGA offering a service you can have in the 2nd hand market.
