Well I gave up baking my 8800GT so I am currently using a borrowed 9600GT which seems to be struggling with Alan Wake (on low settings but res is 1900x1200).

I have recently upgarded the rest of my machine with z68/2700k/16gb and can probably budget £80-£100 for a new nvidia gfx card, I would consider some thing off the mm if that would give me the best bang for buck.

Whats my best bet then guys, 460/470 ?

It would seem a shame to not add a decent GPU to such a good build. What games are you currently playing/intend on playing?

On a budget, sounds like you're either going over budget to stay in the Green team, or hop ship to the Red team.

I cant access the MM, but there is a new GTX460 SC for £125.

Or stay on budget and get an equally good card (albeit AMD) for £93.

To be honest I don't often get to play games, having a go at Alan Wake and mainly only really play single player fps and the ME series.

Would defo like to stay green hence I think I'm looking at seomthing 2nd hand off the mm, is a 460 768mb a reasonable step up from a 9600GT, will I be able to play ok at medium settings 1920x1200? (say on alan wake for instance?)

Fair play and I understand your budget. The 460 will be fine but you will need to lower settings to make it playable.
