Nvidia Users Beware, Latest Drivers May Damage Your PC

LOL

nvidia has killed cards again.

Oh dear. AMD drivers are sometimes flawed, but at least they dont melt your £500+ Cards.

Do you have a dual monitor setup ?

No single mate connected via display port. Ive seen the message from nVidia saying as far as they are aware it affects dual monitor setups but i think it affects single as its doing same to me. I hope i can fix it tonight n ill post how i did it.

Ask yourself if it contains any logic whatsoever.

Now you have had your rant perhaps you could do something useful like trying to help people posting in this thread.

Most people who read and post in these threads do so because they either use NVidia cards or want to help, we look forward to your positive contribution.

Yes absolutely agree. This is a serious matter and you'll be happy to know there is an easy solution for those having problems.

Buy AMD :p

Seems it could be an issue with express installs. I always use custom to not install the 3d drivers and I've seen no issues with either driver. I also am monitoring temps as I have a new case, they seem ok.
I do feel that these drivers are an improvement on 362.
Andi.

It saddens me to see people poking fun at this. If people have genuinely had GPUs damaged because of these, they get my full sympathy and hope they can get sorted.

Completely agree. I understand some/most people have a preference which company's GPU they buy, but I cannot understand why anyone would take joy in anyone's system being damaged by something outside their control.

Always thought of gamers as one big group with a shared love, with good natured banter between different factions (consolers ribbing PC guys, Green team teasing red team in the PC camp, etc), genuinely disappointed seeing people who seem to think we need to be at war with each other. :(

I've been doing clean installs over the last few drivers, but I don't know if that's an advantage in this case or not. I'm certainly keeping a sharp eye on the temps, though! :D

I updated yesterday (presumably to these new ones) on a 980Ti with stock clock speed and also did custom install, sans 3D drivers.

Didn't have issues yesterday. I have a 5 year warranty and haven't voided the warranty so I'm not concerned.

how many have said their cards are damaged by this?
im trying to work out if that part is just for clicks >.<

Anecdotally: I have Titan X SLI and dual screens.

The 364.47 driver crashed when I did the Express install. I got a proper Bluescreen and had to restart. I pulled my HDMI cable and it worked find on a reboot.

Then a day later I installed the 364.51 driver with my second screen connected and it seems to be working fine.

you can turn off driver updates in windows 10
its a little hidden tho :(

Not any more you can't (well not reliably) - even 3rd party software that blocks it isn't foolproof unless they stay on top of updates as well.

The old Device Installation Settings option changed to "apps and icons" and some device drivers will install through it any way regardless of which option you have it set to - not sure if its bugged or intentional behaviour.
