Been a bit underwhelmed by the 980. It doesn't seem enough of a jump up from SLI 780's to be worth the punt, so I'm holding out for the next generation.

Scouring the other topics doesn't seem to have any info regarding the next generation. Is there a roadmap or an ETA on the next series? Will it be called 10xx?

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Every 60 seconds at nVidia, a minute passes. Together we can stop this. Please spread the word ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

We will have to see what AMD release, rumoured to be some time in Q1 but nothing officially confirmed yet.

If AMD's cards are fast enough and priced well enough then it may force Nvidia to drop the price of the 980's or release a 980ti or full fat maxwell.

Are your 780ti's struggling with anything or do you just have an itch?

It'll be just what AMD does, slight improvements at a large premium, and the same spec cards for the same price or above what they were 2-3 years ago. Both know they can sell anything they put out to enthusiasts/gamers at any price, particulary at the top end.

Probably a beefed up maxwell to push dx12, then pascal / volta 2016?. SLI 780 failed to astonish me especially for the price it cost, never again, so i am looking at the distant future for a really decent single gpu. Although having said that i will see what they can do with maxwell and decide on compromise by turning game settings down a notch, also, depends on the games?. Underwhelmed with games in general though, only looking forward to Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain so i might be good with one GTX 780?. Also have to wait to see what AMD have up their sleeve?.

Hopefully see something with a bit more oomph. Currently running sli 780's, which thankfully were bought secondhand. But the current 900 series arent really much of an upgrade path for me.

Problem with 780s in SLI - you get ludicrous FPS at lower resolutions (which admittedly is nice if you like 120+Hz) but they run out of VRAM at the kind of settings/resolution where you really want the SLI performance. Which has held me back from buying a 2nd.

I am glad to see not all bought into the hype that is Gtx970/980 as the hype train was out in full force. I think because releases are few and far between these days people are willing to settle for lower/power and heat versus a big boost in performance.

I think my SLI 780ti setup is great,
I even say the performance they gave was a little over kill for gaming at 1440p when I first bought them on release ...
