Nvidia, WTF have you done??!

"Nvidia experience" now requires you to create an account and log on!

One can apparently do this by either creating a new Nvidia account or using a Goolee, or Facepalm one. I have no wish to create the former, nor do I have either of the latters.

The loss of the "Nvidia Experience" utility is no big deal, It just means that I no longer have the auto optimisation thing (Which was quite useful to provide starting points for optimising my somewhat older graphics card (A GTX590, It still performs quite well even with current games, but not at ultimate resolutions obviously) and I now have to DL driver updates directly from the Nvidia website (But for how long?? !!). It is an inconvenience rather than a disaster (For now!)

But Why, Just why??! :(

Its a ****ing graphics utility for ****s sake!

What is the need for all this account crap??!

I know where this is all going.

Oh yes, Welcome to the modern hi-tech world of wi-fi enabled kettles washing machines and toasters.

Yep you can control everything from your phone.

but it comes at a price.

If you do not log on to your Hotpoint account, you will not be able to wash your clothes in your washing machine!

If you lose your web connection none of your stuff will work!

Even worse!

"The ministry of environmental control has detected that you are carrying out more than the government recommended single 40C+ wash per week. This is your final warning. do it again and your washing machine will be deactivated"

<Where is that link to the picture of the fed up bloke wearing the foil hat!? He might have had a point! >

Talk about being a big cry baby!

I don't think it's a huge deal really.

That GTX590 though, I doubt it gets driver updates all that often now anyway?

NVidia Experience, no thanks.

Bloatware is bad enough when they are giving it away, NVidia seem to want you to work for it by jumping through hoops.

I registered the other day, took a few mins to do, if that. Don't see why people have an issue with it personally. Think it stated one of the benefits to doing so too, but didn't read it closely.
I can't be ar*** playing with all the settings although with a TX I suppose you can just stick everything on max
I like GF experience although it did set my display up as 3800*2160 or something when it's only 2560*1440 - causing the crafting menu within the game to be unusable as I couldn't get to some of the icons :).

Make one using a throw-away/temporary email address and fake details. There's a few sites around which you can use, like this one: https://www.guerrillamail.com/ Then remove or block the part of the software which spies on you.

That way you won't get spam and the data is useless to them. Because that is why they do it, to sell the data to ad companies.

I feel like I went red at the right time though! No spyware in AMD drivers (yet).

Plus VPN's might hide what you do but boy it sure does look interesting that you are choosing to prevent our loving / caring government from looking at your internet habits. Must be something dodgy going on! ;)

Doesn't work like that. A properly set up VPN just looks like normal SSL traffic if you send it over port 443 (the port used for https websites, internet banking etc). Even when using deep packet inspection.

why use it indeed ?

only reason to use it is for shadowplay which isnt even the best for recording any way. you can get better free video software with guides which give better quality.makes no sense to have something annoying you daily for no reason.

Meh, make a google account for it.

The entire internet is obsessed with making you make an account, and always has been. See Quora, or just about any forum you ever wanted to see a link/picture/download for.

People have been making up fake details for the above for years.

Eh. Make a fake Facebook account, with fake details, and a picture of Fat Elvis?

Nothing to say your FB account has to be real. And you can use it to log on to tons of websites you don't want to have your personal details, but insist you log in (a modern curse, true).

The point is you shouldn't have too coming from AMD and seeing how NVidia drivers are poor (at least the last month) and now having to log in to use shadowplay is rather bad.

It isn't a huge deal. But it is yet another one of Nvidias "niggles". They all add up and keep me on the AMD fence.

If you buy Nvidia....you can't complain.

Hmm this is odd. Just check my geforce experience and ..... well its gone? dissapeared from my windows 10 work machine. I didn't delete it?
