Give it a few months

We've learned that the six-month delay of Geforce version of GF100 Fermi chips and cards won't actually hinder the introduction of other, slower version of Fermi card.

The whole point of making the insanely big Fermi is to win the hearts of journalists and enthusiasts and to bring this architecture to performance, mainstream and finally entry-level markets.

Entry-level is where the money is, even though you need to send millions of these cards to make a decent profit. Mainstream Fermi is a project that Nvidia is pushing side-by-side with high-end Fermi and we've learned that mainstream Fermi should be on time.

You should roughly expect it one quarter after the first Fermi, and if all goes well June should be a good month to launch. Since Nvidia changed quite a lot of plans in the last few months, don’t be surprised if it launches a bit later.

Its not delayed....... its launching in June???? If this isn't a delay what else would you call it?

They could release it tomorrow if they wanted to, I suppose they just want to build up a decent stock of the high-end parts so we don't have another 58xx/59xx launch debacle.

Well, there's no rush for it to come out, ATI have released a batch of cards, Nvidia are behind already, so they can release it whenever they want. I just hope they deliver when they come out.

Thread is about mainstream, and you start talking about high-end parts...

could this be due to high demand of the gpu parts, also to get the card manufactured and released so anytime from june - sept.

JUNE/JULY!!! I cant wait that long to upgrade my 8800GTX! Hmmm maybe i should move to the darkside and get ATI.

I would feel dirty though.

Feeling the same! I'm waiting to see if Fermi is faster than the 5970/5870's, but I'm getting an itchy credit card figure right now.

The cards that are going to compete with the 5970 & 5870 will apparently be released in March. This thread is pointing out that "mainstream" cards will be delayed until June/July.

Put that credit card back in it's holster - probably only 6 weeks or so until the enthusiast cards are released.

If you have your fortune saved for the high end card you won't have to wait, if you looking for an upgrade from your 250/260 that what we seem to be waiting for.

This is a very bizarre claim. IF nVidia had released the top end Fermi in September/October time would they really have waiting until June before releasing the mainstream parts? Especially considering AMD released their mainstream parts only a month after the top end stuff.

oh dear fud....but anyway if hes right then it not too bad seeing as the ATI's mainstream/lowend is iminant...infact the 5670 is already here. :) ....so not late just behind ATI ;)

i dont care how long it takes as i know it will be worth it,my gtx 295s can run any game at any setting so no point in me going to ATI camp
