Is there a way to set up dual screens as clones, at different resolutions in nview? Basically i have a 17" CRT which i like to play games on, surf the net etc.. And a 20" widescreen TFT that i use for DVD's etc.

I like to keep the CRT at 1026x768, but would like the widescreen at optimum res (not sure what that is off hand), as DVD's look crap on it at 1026x768!?!

Kind of related:

I wouldnt mind knowing how to expand over 2 different screens (a 17" tft @ 1280x1024 and the dell at 1680x1050 (think thats about right - can never remember 20" widescreen res) as well. I dont mind loosing the 26 or so pixels in height on the dell. Would ideally like to be able to make a single 2960x1024 screen if its possible in the nvidia driver.

Windows display properties will allow you set different resolutions for the monitors, and nview to select dualview. (But this is not cloning) This is the way i've set up my 20" WS at 1680x1050, and 15" at 1024x768.

With Dualview, can you still set the WS to fullview for DVD's? I'll have a play around with it soon... System's not fully up n running yet... Not long now though! :D

Well... It was all looking good until i pressed Apply! I had Dualview all set up, it could see both monitors, i made my CRT the Primary Monitor, pressed apply, and both screens went blank...

It didn't even revert after the usual 15 or so seconds!?! If i unplug one of the monitors it's fine, but as soon as they are both plugged in... Blank!

Any ideas?

it can all be done, i suggest using nview setup. and also UltraMon.

At the moment it looks like i need to wait for nvidia to catch up. I've managed to get both monitors showing, but my WS is purely for show, as there's no option to set it for video!?! According to the help file, the option should be in TV and Video settings, but alas no....

At the moment i don't want to use any other software for my monitors, it seems a bit pointless if i have to run nview as well anyway!?! I will keep Ultramon in mind though, just in case nvidia NEVER catch up. :D

Cheers Neoni. ;)

Are you using the new Beta version?

I'm really not sure i want to pay out any more money.. This damn system has already gone over the £1,000 mark, and doesn't seem to be able to do half the things my old XP machine can do!?! :D

This can be done with ultramon. You can just right click the program in the taskbar and select 'Expand to desktop'. It will maximize it to the maximum height available and to the width of the two screens. So, like you said, you end up losing 26 pixels on the widescreen in order to fit the smaller screen. You also have the option to have a button added next to the minimize/maximize buttons which will do the same thing. Or you could even assign it to a hotkey.

Regarding the few posts above, i can't really tell if you are saying that you don't need to pay for ultramon or not. AFAIK there's a 30day trial after which you have to buy a license. That's what i had to do and it worked out to around £25 with VAT.
