I have a EVGA 8800 Ultra KO version for a little over a year now and I have always had problems playing COD:MW where I would get the nvlddmkm error. But it rarely effected other games like Team Fortress2, CSS, day of Defeat ect...
The nvlddmkm error was annoying but I just stopped playing COD:MW in the end and thought nothing of it.
But I recently got my copy of Call of Duty: World at War and I can't play the game as I keep getting the same error where the game either just freezes or the screen goes black and I can hear the games sound. When I end the games task I have a small yellow triangle in the task bar that pops up saying that "the nvlddmkm driver failed and has now recovered". Now when I load the game back up again it does the same thing. On a system restart I can play the game for a couple of minutes sometimes for longer than an hour but eventually I have the same outcome.

This is now starting to effect other games which it hasn't done in the past, like when I try and start a game on the Left 4 Dead Demo the game just freezes for a couple of seconds and then starts again and then again a freeze and just repeats the same pattern until I end the games task in the task manager.

I have the latest nvidia drivers, my windows is up to date.

So can anyone tell me whats going on please, is my GPU about to die ?

Thanks
Danny

its annoying problem to say the least its all to do with vista's tdr's ( time detection and response ) most people seem to think its either to many nvidia driver entries in the system registry or memory related

try for solutions here same for ati and nvidia cards

Tried all of them and still getting the same problem !

I know it's a long shot, but have you tried reformatting and rebuilding your system?

My system was formatted just over 2 weeks ago.
