Current set up is there, AMD preference is there, I said I'm NOT spnending £350 on an X3D so fair to assume budget is south of that right?, and I said ASSUME A WIDE RANGE OF GAMES - it's all there...

Did I mention productivity? No, and I specified GAMING CPU.

You haven't provided your current CPU though, so we don't even know what platform to work with.

Also, why act so aggressively to a perfectly reasonable post asking questions? I mean you asked for the best AMD gaming CPU and then ruled out the best AMD gaming CPU.

The 7800X3D OEM CPUs can be had for under £200 delivered in the UK if you shop around.

If you want a retail CPU,the options are:
1.)Ryzen 7 7700/7700X for £200 to £250
2.)Ryzen 5 7600/9600 for around £150 to £170
3.)Ryzen 7 7400 for about £130. This is Ryzen 5 7600 with half the L3 cache.

In terms of bang for back,the OEM 7800X3D is the best,but it has a short warranty.

If you want something to tide you over,the Ryzen 5 7600 probably is the best value. The 7700/7700X/7800X3D are 8 core CPUs and the rest six cores,but hopefully Zen6 will slot into current AM5 motherboards.
