I'm planning on using the Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master and see that there are heatsink "lids" for the M2 modules. I also see that I can buy modules with and without their own integral heatsinks. Will both still fit below the Gigabyte-supplied lid? If not would it be better to use a heatsinkless module with the motherboard heatsink lid or use a module with a heatsink and leave the motheboard lid off?

The ones with heatsinks on wont fit with the motherboard heatsinks on but you can remove the motherboard ones easily enough so its up to you which you choose mate i removed the motherboard ones myself on my own rig but on grandsons i used motherboard ones

It won't fit underneath with heatsinks fitted mate just use the motherboard one I have mine like that and have never had any problems with heat.

I have my NVME (Gen3) SSD with no heat sync and underneath a GPU. So far (over the last 2-3 years) it hasn't been a problem. I'd personally just use the heatsync that comes with the motherboard in your case, as they tend to be more compatible clearance wise.

The heatsinks that come with some SSDs will be better at transferring heat than the plates / shields on the motherboard which are more like heat spreaders.
