Looking at replacing my 1tb sabrent rocket nvme with a 4tb one.

Looking at the crucial t500 4tb. Is there anything better for similar price?

Not to mention manufacturers aren’t beyond sending out review samples with DRAM and then quietly removing it a few months later without even a model number change.

He also listed WD 850X lol

I think he saw my link and didn't click that you can change the SSD in the comparison, or simply saw the name on the link itself, and quoted the wrong post, all at the same time.
Exactly all of these lol. Just saying that the nm790 doesn't have a dram cache and is a midrange SSD.

Also uses all Chinese components fwiw. Maxio controller and ytmc nand

Sadly Kingston has been guilty of this - a blemish on a company I've otherwise found excellent.

Lots of companies do it

Crucial have done this with their mx500 (tlc to qlc) SSDs and P3 plus (random nand tlc/qlc)
AData xpg with their sx8200 pro (controller)
Samsung with their 970 evo (controller)
WD with their sn550 (tlc to qlc nand)

They all do it, period.

Showing loyalty to any company for anything is insanity. They all take the pee, some are arguably better than others but they'll still fleece you on a dime given the chance. It's beyond naive to assume we still live in an area where it's worth supporting companies/brands on the basis that they return the favour.

Purchases should be made on a case by case basis.

I picked up a Crucial P3 Plus SSD 4TB for £163.99 on Black Friday week in November 2023. It’s been running fine ever since. It has 1652 power on hours and 17.5 TB writes. Health status good at 99%
