Hello,

A very quick one that I thought would be ideal for the motorcycle community on the forum.

I have always wanted to to visit the NW200 and noticed that I can get a ferry this year to Belfast one a 1 day return. The morning arrives in more than enough time but the return is at 19.30 (a later one can be found at around 23:00 but im not sure i fancy riding home at that time of the morning).

My question was can the NW200 be done in a day with travel? My main concern is not being able to get out in time as the roads dont open until 18:30. Is it possible to park my motorbike up in safe areas with other bikes and get back to it and ride out without getting stuck. I think i would have to leave around 17:30 to make it to the ferry in time, im not sure if that would miss races though.

Hopefully some veterans of the NW200 can help me out please :)

I would forget it m8. While you could park in the likes of portstewart and not get held up by road closures, there is a massive amount of bikes/cars that all have the same idea and make a dash to get out 1st. Even on a bike it can take forever to clear the traffic.

Its also a pretty tiring day, depending on what you want to see there can be a lot of walking. If I was you I would book a room in a cheap hotel outside the NW area and stay the night. At least that way you can relax on the way back. Anything else I can help with let me know.
