2900pro? whats that radeon??? you off yoru face or somethign mate

erm fanboi /. ? yus it's a radeon, yus it's atm the best vfm card yus it will quite willingly beat the snot out of the 8600gts with one arm tied behind it's back ( and the 8500 you currently have with both arms and all it's shaders tied up as well )

if you've mistakenly written something that I've taken out of context then sorry, but taking your post as is you asked for advice and got the best possible response, nobody is off anybody's face

okie dokie what was the last ATI card you used ? if it was pre 9700/9800 pro then I can relate to performance issues but since the 9700's ATi/AMD have been constanly pushing NV along, without ATI I doubt we'd be where we are today.

The 8600gts is not a bad card but it's not worth anywhere near what your looking at paying, If you want a quick easy step up from the 8500 you currently use then a 7600 GT / 1950 Pro will suffice. if you want a serious leap in performance please dear god newbie buy a 2900 Pro / 8800 series

it's not rocket science and honestly 9 times out of 10 if you're offered advice on OCUK it'll be spot on

oh... and i need it in SLI. i will be buying 2

Why dont you like ATi graphics? the 2900 is better than an 8600GTS..., you can pick up a 2900Pro for around £145 if you look around and its better than an 8600GTS, so if you want an 8600GTS over a 2900Pro just because you dont like ATi for whatever unusual reason then your loss...

had loads of problems with drivers mainly. games wouldnt work properly. from my experience, radion are more suited to 3D rendering for design programs, not so much games.

well tbh, its my brother thats been posting here not me. he had one about 4 months ago. and problematic it was.

Oh :s.

I would be lieing if I said the drivers are good, but, the card certianly beats an 8600GTS for sure even thought the 2900's drive support is abit messy atm, but then again, NV's aint perfect either.
