NYC in late November?

I am starting to think that i REALLY need a holiday and have been thinking of going over to NYC for a long weekend (4 nights). However, i am having real issues finding somewhere to stay that's not obscenely expensive! Does anyone have any hotel recommendations that aren't going to cost me hundreds a night for a 2 star?

New york is expensive a 2 star hotel will still be pricey, book it as a package on expedia or the like, we paid £800ish each for 5 nights at the New York Helmsley a 4* hotel including flights with BA
