Firstly, sorry for all the threads I have trashed these past few weeks by mentioning this case.

http://www.nzxt.com/products/adamas/

Hopefully for around the £120 mark, I mean just look at it.

Not seen one first hand yet so I am warey of making any comments but like the v1000, PC7+II, A10 and 767 (oops) I will stand by this case and say it has a LOT of potential.

Not the most ideal cooling solution in the world, but who says you have to use all the fans, it certainly is not attempting anything radical just tailoring to high end graphics card users out of the box rather than as an after thought.

Lot of potential, anything around the £110-30 mark for this case will be a good buy.

Can't wait to get my hands on one, damn lack of finances!

Yes it does not look like its going to beat the PC7+ or Eclipse.

But take a look at that row of screws over the hard drives, the case just shows a lot of promise in my opinion.

My money is on cards not getting bigger than the 8800gtx, really they have to get smaller. It is a silly size for a graphics card really.

not only that, but no Mobo tray that i can see...... and that means trouble if you swap and change regularly.

In a case like the Eclipse you wouldnt notice, but i've broken a decent mobo before trying to get it into a tight fitting case (Silentium T1, my old case), and i vowed never again (good excuse to spend some money..... need new case, need new mobo.... might as well get a new proc too...... new ram..... new Gfx..... errrr.... new COMPUTER!)

Never use a motherboard tray if the case is good.

Personally I reserve final judgement until I see the case in person.

It has the right look and when graphics cards get back to being a decent size that should not be an issue.

Just got to see it to make the judgement, you never know how much room you actually have until you play with it. Just look at the lanboy.

I said that a few posts up. ;)

Yeh I am hoping that I am wrong, my gut feeling says this case has huge potential but that is mainly because of the styling!

I will just have to wait and see, no money to get one for quite some time so it will be a watch this space type affair, unless someone else buys one. ;)

Thing is Hades the issues with the Lexa were not the quality of the design or the build quality so to speak, was just the structural strength of the thing.

This has that and thick panels, all the makings of a modern ATC-Tek case really even down to the styling.

Silverstone have good enough quality but there high end is obviously better than the low end models. I suspect this will be of a very high standard but no frills.

Basic and good it looks, I really need to see one as I would love to love this case, it just has that whole special feeling about it. May take a revision but on paper it is what the Antec 900 promised to be, but to judge I really need to use one. :(

Had no offers of a free case yet, come on people I know you love me! :D

You are in a lot of the cases of this style and usually have to seek alternative methods of storing them, for a rig using a 8800 I would not consider anything less than silencing enclosures for the drives.

Is a specialist case indeed, glad you got them in Fatboy and for £30 less than I was bracing myself for!

Need to see one in the flesh before I can make such bold claims, people may quote me! :p

The resale value on these is unknown so buying it would be a risk, but worst case scenario is that you end up with a well built case.

Lot of money but if you have it I say go for it, certainly looks the part.

Or buy one for me... ;)

I just read a bit more and apparenntly it's held together with screws rather than rivets. So I reckon that hdd bay will come out if you need to install a GTX.

Will not hear that coming from my mouth until I have looked at it myself, but I think you have read the same thing as I did. :)

Reviewers across the board are known to get things horribly wrong so it is questionable reliability of the source but still it is promising. :D

The quality from all the reports I have read and heard from people are its built like a tank, although may not have the same attention to detail as the higher end Lian Li cases it is 'built' better.

Think an old Cheiffy Dragon compared to the Antec version, the Cheiffy was stronger and like a tank but the Antec had higher quality drive bays, slightly better rounded edges.

Still not from first hand experience so do not hold me to that. :(

Why is that case not one for the silence fanatics?

Some reviewers get things so spectacularly wrong, aluminium mirage front, v1000+ having all the problems of the v1000 and being unable to cool anything, PC7+II having 80mm rear fan when they were too slow to notice they actually had not got a PC7+II.

There are a lot of reported issues with reviews, most reviewers use a case for 1 hour maybe 2 then take it down and are done with it. To get a feel for a case you have to live with it, does it rattle etc.

Reviews I find are usually woefully inaccurate and you can never get accurate cooling comparisons as the computers are always different and never with anything remotely like tidy cabling.

I will take someones opinion who has owned the case for 3 months over every single review of that case on the net, I am quite confident in my mind that it would be a more accurate idea of what the case is like to live with from the point of view of someone who wants to own the case, so the same as mine.

I have been ****** over by reviewers more times than I have fingers for cases, in my experience they are woefully incompetent and some have never even seen yet alone used a case!

I am not saying all reviews are bad, I am just saying anything in CustomPC mag and THG / Anandtech needs to be taken with an extreme pinch of salt.

The NZXT will have a better grounding for a silent computer than a P180 and S80b, it is what I am genuinely considering as the replacement for my S80b.

Avoid the v1000 like the plague.

Buy the v1000+ or v1000+II and you are laughing though, all the faults with the original have been fixed, can fit any PSU you want into it although you have to sacrifice 3 hard drive spaces but this is rarely an issue.

The front fan is an intake, as is the rear fan for most rigs.

The v1000+ is essentially two separate cooling zones, you have the airflow at the bottom of the case, intake through the front fan and its filter through to the PSU with its intake on the bottom of the case and out the back. Gives stunning PSU temperatures and the lowest of any case on the market, although most people do not worry about them.

The top area can be tricky, depending on your rig the rear fan may be best either as an intake or exhaust, adding the blower fan (or the side panel grilled fan) can lead to changing the rear fan. It is all down to just toying around with what works best for your system. :)

I have owned the v1000 from release, then sold on v1000+ release day to get the v1000+ which is the superior of the two in every possible way especially years on.

Buy a v1000 with the + or plus and you are laughing, one of the finest cases ever made and more a research and development for Lian Li than anything if you take a look at the way their case designs are going, but it is a good looker built to the highest standard with good cooling.

Can not ask much more than that, I certainly will not be selling my v1000+ unless it is absolutely necessary.

Yeah, CustomPC and the rest aint too good. But with Bit-Tech you can discuss the verdict in the forums and that way its much better to get an opinion.

NZXT Better than P180 for silence? LOL.

P180, Antec Solo, S80B...etc etc are perfect for silence matters.

With the hard mounting drives, vents in the side for the noise to leak out no sound proofing and Cramped size its not one for the silence computer. Also the pop out PCI slots make me cringe.

Can you fit a Scythe Ninja in there?

No idea, but I would imagine it would fit.

After owning and silencing a P180, S80b, Akasa Eclipse, v1000+ and PC7+ the two easiest cases to silence (and I mean silent = inaudible) while maintaining good cooling were the Eclipse and the PC7+.

The cooling in the P180 and S80b goes to pot when you start getting to low noise levels. The sound proofing does not work and the dual sides on the S80b only work in the most minuscule amount, you buy the S80b as it is a well built super case.

The best way to silence a computer is to have minimal fans running at minimal speeds and just eliminate the noise at the source rather than trying to mask it.

A noisy graphics card in a Eclipse at 50db will be 50db in a P180 although potentially slightly muffled, a 0db passive graphics card will be the same in both cases although the Eclipse will cool better at the lower CFM. ;)

There are two ways to silence a computer, eliminate the source of the noise or mask the noise so it becomes inaudible. The cheapest method is usually to tackle the source.

I will agree that it is easier to make a QUIET pc in the P180 or S80b, if you are just bunging in normal off the shelf components into the PC of course the cases with thicker panels will fare better, but when you start trying to silence them they can give no end of trouble.

My S80b is running on one 5v Akasa Amber fan, the Seasonic S12 Energy+ PSU and a VF900cu on the graphics card. The CPU is cooled by a Zalman Reserator 1+.

I have placed two bath towels in between my side panels and my hard drives are in Silentmaxx Enclosures.

This makes my computer completely inaudible from 20cm away and nigh on inaudible with your ear up to the computer.

It was far harder to silence this than the 120mm in 120mm out computers I have used, maintaining adequate airflow on a complicated case for cooling like the S80 which benefits from high CFM is to put it politely a pain in the rear.

The main difference is everything is screwed in the + rather than riveted in the non plus. :)

I would run the rear as an intake and leave it at that, see if the computer is stable and good temps after 5 hours on then leave it at that. If it is not then start experimenting. :)
