I know, I know. This software is garbage. But, due to loving my H700i (and being reluctant to strip everything out) I'm stuck using it at least for now. Anyway, to the matter at hand...

So I've been using CAM for some time now. Well aware of its limitations and negative reviews, but given its integration into my case, and the fact I recently upgraded to a Kraken Z63 along with my new CPU, I've been making do. For the most part the custom fan curves I've made do exactly what I need them to.... except when they don't.

A few times now I've had my case fans completely disappear from within the software. The Kraken pump & fans still show, but the case fans just disappear - ie. the ones connected via the "smart device" in my case. The fans still spin, and are viewable/controllable in BIOS, the software just stops recognising them.

After a bit of head-scratching the first time around I went into device manager and noticed that there was an unknown USB device which was flagged as having a driver error. So, I removed the driver, rebooted, and hey-presto... fans detected again. So it turns out it was the smart device throwing a hissy-fit that was causing the problem.

That issue has now happened 2 or 3 times (months apart), and the only fix I've found is the one detailed above. Find the "errored" USB device, uninstall, reboot.

Firstly posting so that anyone else having this issue may get some use out of the above (as I'll admit it took far longer than I'd like to figure it out....), but also secondly on the off-chance that anyone else here has had the same/similar problem, and whether there's a more permanent fix?
