NZXT H1

Saw these comments on hukd, anyone agree?

1: The case is a mini oven. I have gone on reddit and customised the hell out of the case and still cooks up all the hardware.
For Reference: My specs are AMD 3900x, rog strix X570, 2 x 1tb M.2 Drives, GTX 1080, 32gb Memory
2: The pump makes a weird whining sound it's not just mine a lot of people online complaining about this noise, it's very common.
3: Front glass panel is useless should have been another vented panel for a better airflow.

1. My thermals are good, my only issue is the GPU temp. But that's a 390x which is known for being hot, and it's old now. I'm hoping when I upgrade very soon to something more modern it'll be OK.

2. I've not noticed any pump noise.

3. I agree, I'd prefer a vented panel. With the glass panel removed my GPU temps go back to normal

That seems to be the general consensus, yes. Lots of builds on r/sffpc where people have done all sorts of mods to try and fix GPU temps (heat gets trapped behind the glass). The only easy fix seems to be swapping the front panel for a perforated one.

Pump noise is one of those things that some people notice and others don't though. And that goes for pretty much all AIOs, not just the one in the H1.

What GPU is everyone running?

Most if not all reviews I've seen on YouTube use the 2070 Super and temps are good.

I'm not sure if I should grab one or aim higher and get a 2080 series? Will anything more powerful than the 2070S struggle with temps?

1. My CPU temps are brilliant. GPU gets warm (as does the case) but it's like that with any case unless you get a Meshify C. I have a 3600.
2. I noticed the pump too, but this is my first AIO/ experience with water. After a while I did not notice it/ change the pump speed till you don't notice it.
3. Check out the 40mm Noctua mod to expel the hot air in that trapped section - or order a custom front panel (search H1 front panel replacement reddit). But yes, air does get trapped somewhat there (RX Vega 56, deshrouded with 2x120mm fans). My temps, however, for my GPU is not that much hotter than my other cases (I'm talking 2-3 degrees difference with same fan curve).

Running a 3950X and a GB RTX2070S Gaming OC in the H1 and whilst the individual components are hotter than they were in a much larger case I haven't seen anything to be concerned about.

CPU bumbles along in the mid 60's during gaming and only goes into the low-mid 70's under full core load. GPU was hitting ~70C during a 2 hour gaming session in Destiny 2.

The AIO pump noise can be heard but it can be adjusted down in the bios (MB dependent of course) to ~60% whereby it becomes inaudible once you are actually using the PC.

I honestly find using the system quite eerie tbh. During normal use it is so quiet that if it wasn't for the MB RGB I couldn't tell it was actually on. During CPU or GPU load you can hear the fans ramp up but then this would be the case (heh) in a much larger case anyway.

Ultimately thought I would say this is not a case to buy if you are after the best thermals or compatibility (the FE 3080 for example will fit but will roast due to the sandwich design).

I would love to see an official release of a ventilated from panel and perhaps even a "fan spaced" rear panel.

Thanks for the reply. What are your CPU and GPU temps with and without the glass please?

My CPU never goes over 62C (Pump at 55% and fan at 900/1000RPM). That's with the glass on.

My GPU gets up to 76C and without the front panel it's around high 60's low 70's. Hotspot temp on RX Vega 56 is 90C (but this is a whole separate issue).

I agree with oweneades TBH - the case is quiet if you want it to be, it looks brilliant (IMO) and building in it is a breeze. But there are some downfalls. If you want the absolute best thermals it's not the best case for you.

Above the GPU and at the top of the case, there is hot air that gets trapped, you can feel it. Again, 40mm noctua fans can help with that if your worried about it.

Really wanted this case, but I don't think it would cope as a gaming pc to play 4k gaming. If they release a new version with 750w/850w and better ways to reduce thermals, I'll be all over it.

Thanks guys

I'm looking to for a 5800x and 3060 (release next week). Will be doing more emulation than pc gaming and also video rendering. Not sure how demanding it will be for emulation.

One thing that does bother is why the usb ports on top, if you were to plug in a cable, it's dangling.

Just fitted a ventus 3080 into this. Taken back cover off while I wait for my fan mod to ship from america. Anyone here with a 3d printer with access to any front mods or back mods able to print anything?

heat wise I’m sure I read a review Where they said expect the heat output of 2 x 2070 for one 3080 and yeah I can def believe that’s close

It’s a mini itx so definitely has limitations. I am sure they are working on a newer version of it for next year

I just picked up this case second hand but with a custom wooden front panel. I'm also gonna replace the AIO fan with a Noctua and also stick 3 x 40mm noctua fans in the back to rear exhaust. It really is a lovely looking case and I'm willing to make some adjustments/mods to make it work :)

Specs are : 9600k, EVGA Black RTX3070.

I'm currently using a Dan Case A4 with black ridge cooler. The GPU is literally 2mm too wide so the side panel wont close correctly. I've had my eye on the H1 for a while and when I found it second hand including custom panel, I snapped it up. I'll be moving everything over on Wed when the 40mm fans arrive :D

Happy to run any tests etc.

Can you show before and after the 40mm fans fitment? Really interested to see that; esp with the vented front panel. Got any pics?

Anyone have a link for a vented front panel in stock, in the UK?

Cant seem to find UK stockists. Your best bet would be to get the files and get someone local to 3D print one for you? Or you could order off Etsy if you dont mind a 1 or 2 week wait. If you search H1 NZXT on Etsy there's a load of products like fronts, backs, fan mod brackets etc.
