Hi

I’ve decided to finally upgrade my old Corsair 650D.
I’m torn between the NZXT and FD pop XL.
I’m after a very quiet system. My current machine is near silent in idle but I do feel that the 3080 could do with better airflow. I’ve built a machine in the NZXT H7 and was very impressed with it but like the larger size of the Pop xl. The bottom fan on the H7 is partly blocked so the FD might give me better cooling for the GPU.

Would be interested in people’s thoughts. I’m planning on changing fans and not fussed about RGB.

Cheers

For the 3080, direct bottom intake will net you better thermals. The 4080 is t as hot, but bottom intake for modern GPUs is the best way to have as good as possible thermals, and lower noise levels. The usual approach is the O11D or variants (NZXT H9, Phanteks NV7, O11D Evo, XL, Air Mini).
For a traditional format, Lancool 216, Lancool 3, or for air cooled CPU, Fractal Torrent.
I’ve tried the NZXT H7 and thermals are great, but I’m using the 4080,which uses less power than most 3080s and have an oversized cooler. Despite the bottom front fan on the H7 being “blocked”, three 140mm front intake is appealing. You may even be able to install a fan under the GPU, over the PSU. Not much air for that fan to work with, but is something.
If the Fractal is anything like the North, you can always brute force for better thermals, but the North was decent, but average.
