Hi all
I'm looking to add watercooling to my PC.

Current config is an NZXT M59 case
  • i7 930 Overclocked to 3.9 with Cooler master air cooler (not sure of model but is fitted with 2x120mm fans.
  • Motherboard is Gigabyte x58A-UD5
  • Asus 5850 GPU overclocked on standard air cooler

My thoughts were to go for:
  • OcUK 770 with Kraken X60 cooler
  • Kraken X60 CPU cooler
  • Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste after using ArctiClean

As both coolers are dual radiators (and 280s at that) it looks like the NZXT M59 case will need to be pensioned off in favour of something like an NZXT Switch 810.

So a couple of quick questions:
  • Are the Krakens the way to go or would a custom loop offer better options and cooling (having never built a custom loop).
  • If I stick with the Krakens what would be the best way to mount the radiators. Storage is an issue so I would prefer to not remove the drive bays and install a radiator there which leaves one on the bottom and one on the top. I was thinking of mounting both radiators as inlets and exhausting to the front and rear but that would mean 4 fans sucking air in to only two fans sucking air out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated so I can place the order!

Thanks
Dave

A custom loop IMO would be far superior, although the outlay is greater. You could start off by cooling the CPU first and expanding as funds allow. Once you get into it you will gain more pleasure than just screwing something something to your case, only one problem with watercooling... It's addictive ;)

Oh and the switch 810 is a great case for watercooling.

Thanks guys. First components ordered. Going with the Kraken X60s to start with but then reading the forums (always expensive!) I started questioning the cooling of the chipset etc so will likely convert across to a custom loop when I upgrade the motherboard and get a current i7 I'll will switch to a custom loop in a few months.
Will there be any issues using the top radiator fans as exhausts apart from gaining a few degrees?

Thanks again
