o/cing on micro atx vs atx

For C2D's the Gigabyte G33M boards and the ASUS P5K-VM are supposed to clock pretty well.

how well though?

how does something a little cheaper like a "Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2" clock?

for the sake of a couple of extra cm size of the case woul i be better getting a full atx mobo?

Well the two I mentioned are getting to 400mhz FSB and have pretty much the same BIOS options as their ATX big brothers. How good that is depends on the multiplier of the CPU.

The GA-945GM-S2 has no overclocking options. Even if it did it would be severely limited as it's a 945 based board.

But if you've space for a full ATX board then you really should get one.

ah i see, was thinking of getting the cheapest c2d as possible, the e2140 is it?

The E2140 has a x8 multiplier so, in theory, the two boards i mentioned could get it to at least 3.2ghz, probably more.

But if budget is an issue, you have space for a full ATX board, and you don't need on-board graphics, then the DFI Infinity P965-S Dark is an absolute bargain atm. It's the P965 chipset and will run and overclock the E2140 very very well.
