O11D vs O11DXL

Another xr7 to go in the bottom for gpu which will be push pull, FLT 240 below the 120, tubing sorted, cables sorted, lighting sorted (will try uv with the mystic fog, otherwise will jist use neon, or clear)

Nice mate, I'm stil debating between 2x FLTs or the front distro plate. End up being about the same cost .Did pre-order the 3090FE GPU block from EK last night though.

Thanks for all the advice. My O11D arrived today and I was pleased to find there is no concern with cables pressing against glass.

One massive disappointment was the orientation of my fancy RGB intake fans. I'd never even considered the orientation of them, I just assumed they'd be orientated for intake.

Nice man, jealous that you were able to move everything over to it today. I am waiting till saturday when I have more time. Have 10 (maybe 13 fans if I can fit push/pull ) and didnt want to rush it and get frustrated. Plus the Missus says she is up for having a bash at cable managment as she is little OCD about that stuff and want to try it. Who am I to say no?? :D

I think that's the longest a case build has ever taken me.

Probably took 1.5 hours all in, as I tried to keep all the cables managed on the backside nicely.

I've got to pull it all back apart tomorrow, I've decided to grab a couple of 140mm fans and a Corsair Commander Pro to run everything, as I ran out of chassis fan headers on the motherboard.

Hopefully it doesn't look too odd having different sized fans on the bottom. I figured it was better to maximise airflow to the graphics card with 2x140 rather than 3x120s with the third not doing much.

Be sure to drop some pics of your build when you do it - looking forward to seeing it!

Will def do that mate, it is going to be fairly boring/blackout at this time as running zero RGB in it at all. It is just a holding build until I build a new loop in a couple of months and then without even trying it is going to be full, the monoblock, cpu block and distro plate are all going to be beaming it out. Thinking of leaning into it and decking it completly out in Uni fans.

Reckon it is also going to look a bit lost being in there being the XL. I think the XL really starts to fill up nicely once you get radiators in it, especially an EK XE thicc boy in the bottom.

I think I’d like to add custom water cooling at some point.

I’ll wait until the gpu block is out and I can buy it all together and have it shipped quickly, though. I only do things impulsively

I pre-orded the GPU block last night, was never planning on doing it for a few months as due to move in the next couple of months. It wont be delivered to the end of March anyway and at least now I am committed :D

I did give serous consideration the meshify XL. that is a beast of a case.
After a lot of thought the past few days I think I’ve landed on the decision to buy a O11D XL and go with a front Distro loop. But then again, the way I’m going I’ll probably change my mind in the next week

Currently running an O11D with 360mm aio top mounted with side/bottom as intake fans.

Would it be worth while side mounting the aio? The 5800x is quite toasty.

Damn that’s close!

Unfortunately it looks like the custom cables I plan to get would definitely not fit that so XL it is for me!

one thing you might want to experiment with is making the fans go on the opposite side of the case (inside the main area) to see if that looks any better with the lighting. Might have an effect on thermals too.

when I had my O11D I tried both orientations and ended up keeping them inside the main larger area as it just looked more appealing.

I thought about it, but I think there's headroom in the cooling for the CPU but the GPU is very much thermally limited, which is evident by the improvement in performance that came with the improvement to airflow.

Do you have any pictures? I just liked the idea of keeping them out of the main case space.

Unfortunately The only photos I have are of my old pc build in the case before I switched the fans to the opposite side for my newer 3900x build.

However, If you search “o11d ll120 fans” into Google images, the second result for me is of a white version of this case and fans mounted on the main area as an intake as yours are.

there’s not much in it honestly and will most likely come down to personal preference . Your build Looks awesome either way.

So managed to get the build moved over to the new case.

Ended up having some issues, one of my ARGB headers for some reason on my MB isnt working so everything is a bit sloppy right now but going to tidy it all up next weekend along with some of the cable managment when my new hub arrives. Have one more strip to add to the top of the case and new ram coming tomorrow.

Will hold me over till I do a new loop in March/April.

What type of loop you planning?

Im thinking of doing a front distro in the XL white version with a White 360 rad in the top and all Lian Li Uni SL120 fans.

then down the line, if I am confident enough to take apart a 3090 FE, I’ll put another 360 in the bottom and get one of those nice ek FE blocks
