Hi,

Just wondering has anyone had any problems with this at all? I have tried installing it on two computers and now the wireless and the bluetooth don't work and neither does the 3G modem.
I think its a bit weird that you don't need to install drivers from anywhere as the device itself auto runs and installs itself?
Any known issues?

Thanks

Which 3g modem is it for a start. There will be a model number on it.

Im assuming you have an E220? This has a clever function where its memory is detected as a cd rom drive on the pc it is plugged into (doesn't work on macs though)

Anyway, its a usb device and shouldn't do this. Are you plugging it into a laptop or desktop?

It is the E220, I have tried installing it on a desktop and a laptop and it hasn't worked but on another desktop I tried it did work, which isnt really useful as I need it on my laptop :)

What actually happens when you insert the modem? Does it start the autoinstall feature? It takes a while to install when its first run.

If nothing happens after 5 minutes, right click on My computer and go to Properties, then click on the Hardware tab and finally device manager.

Is there anything there with a yellow exclaimation mark?

I have an MC930D modem (also from O2) which pulls a similar stunt.

It has a virtual CD ROM driver and installs a driver + utility from this on initial insertion. It cleverly fails to support Windows XP x64 which is annoying. Most other OSs are supported (can't comment on Windows 7 but it Vista 32/64bit and XP 32bit). I have to say it is one of the worst ideas I have seen to date... The inclusion of an 8cm device driver CD would have been far better (plus download-able updates of course).

The device won't expose the 3G modem hardware until the virtual CD drive is unmounted. So you need to do this GNU/Linux to actually see the real device!!

It can be decidedly flakey about switching back to exposing the virtual CD to allow an installation...

Have you tried manually starting the driver on the virtual CD (in case you have autorun disabled)??

What OS are using - Vista??

Also the O2 connection manager is a real pain. I usually operate my device from the created Dial-Up shortcut and disable the stupid manager thing.

Everything seems to be install correctly in device manager. Im trying this on windows Xp home, its installed ok but when using the O2 connection manager or the connect to stuff it cant find the modem, ever!

Does the installer manage to setup 1/2 dial-up connections in you network connections folder??
