Hi

Is it possible to get a limit on my o2 online bill every month so that i cant go over a set amount ?

the reason i ask is i find it very hard to control my spending and would like to be able to limit my spending to say £25 a week...as my biggest bill yet was £203  for a month

Anyone got any info if this is possible ?

Thanks

Your right...just rang them.

thats annoying. guess il just have to try by myself...even if its impossible lol. not my fault if someone txts its only manners to reply :o

yea i know what you mean buy my biggest bill wsa just over £100, you could just up your mins and txts to save some money

already get 500 off peak any network and 700 txts for about £30 (200 txt bolton and online of peak tariff.

I txt to much

That's utterly shocking! Christ man ring people instead of having text conversations, it'll be cheaper and besides, it's a lot more polite :)

T-mobile locks your spending down on one of their tarrifs if thats any good to you? I know how bad O2 is for spending money! Four Figure bill says so!

Vodafone does aswell. If your bill goes over a certain figure (think it's £75) then it will lock. It's just a security measure incase your phone was stolen, you could ring up and get it upped or unlocked :)

hmm...

I never had that, and had a 5 month period when I was spending over 100 quid a month,

when I finally got through to the 'real' retention department, I got one hell of a deal to keep me

Actually, as far as I'm aware it's often a credit control thing for them. Basically, they don't want people running up hundreds of pounds of bills without knowing for sure whether they will be able to pay up at the end of the month, and if they cut you off for this reason they will usually ask you to pay off that amount before you can continue putting on additional charges on your bill.

T-Mobile do offer exactly what the OP is looking for - called U-Fix. However, the phones you can get on the tariff tend to be a narrower range and more expensive, since they know they're less likely to get the excess usage revenue off you compared to a non-capped contract (the Relax and Flext tariffs)

f f f f f four figure?! Jesus! The most i've ever spent is £63 but I usually get by on about £10.

If you want to spend about £100 a month (£25 a week ish) surely for that money you can get a tariff that you just wont use all the minutes and text? I remember looking yonks ago and £75 would give you well over 1000minutes x-network and 1000text.
Thats 30mins on the phone every day and 30 text. No doubt you can trade some text for minutes - i doubt you do 30 text per day.

Like you I send a lot of texts so at the start of every month I reset the SMS counter on my phone so I know exactly how many texts i'm sending. You should maybe consider getting a PAYG phone with an o2 online PAYG sim so you can also get 300 texts for topping up £10 each month along with your contract. This will probably save you a lot of money and you can use the extra £10 to make calls.

im on 02 online 400 for £30 a month, should be £45 but i threatened to leave.

My minutes rollover to and i get 1000 texts, my bill is never more than £30 :)

you can only limit your monthly usage with o2 shops, not o2 online a si tried a couple fo years ago.

phone them up and ask them to upgrade your tarrif to a student tarrif. you get double messages and mins for the same price.

Im currently on the online 200 student tarrif. £30 a month, 1000 messages, 400 anymins with rollover etc.

You either need to get some self control or get rid of your contract altogether - you're unlikely to find any provider who will reliably give you a cap that they won't lift without warning, they're just losing money that way.

I don't really get how you can spend so much if you don't want to! Add up your minutes, if you get to more than you want to spend, stop using your phone. If you want to have the limit there in the first place then you clearly use the phone for non-essential things.

If self control is such a serious issue then the only option is to go to PAYG (though of course you'll be paying more generally speaking) or to get rid of the phone altogether. If you're regularly spending £200 a month then that sounds like a sensible option to me!
