Currently got an Orbit2 and need to access the web outside of my normal home and work wireless networks (and hopping onto the odd hot-spot while on the bus!! :p)

Been looking at thw Bolt-On's available from O2 and the two it shows are the Web and WIFI.

Now the Web I understand totally (more in a sec), but the WiFi has got me slightly confused as it says I can have access to 7500+ hotspots around the UK.

Now if this is true, is there a coverage map of these Hotspots as I can't see it anywhere?

But coming back to the Web bolt-on, my primary use of the internet on my phone would be the following:

Weather update
GPS tracking
Email sending
MSN Messenger

Has anyone got this Bolt-On and apart from the issues of a "fair usage" is it really unlimited access for £7.50pm?

Is there a cap on the amount?

You can look up The Cloud access points here:
http://www.thecloud.co.uk/for-you/

I use a lot of cloud access points with my iPhone, they are pretty common.

With regards to caps, O2 won't charge you as long as you're just using your phone for data access no matter how much you download. If you start using it connected to a PC though they may charge.

I queried the "unlimited usage" thing with o2, they told me that if I go over the 200meg cap, I wont get charged, but if I do it 3 months in a row, they will send me a letter telling me I am going over my limit, and if I continue to go over again then they may charge me.

Brilliant cheers.

The other query I've got (literally on the phone now and they haven't got a clue!!) is this:

I live in an area where I can get GPRS on my phone, but not 3G.
But a mile up the road, and at work and around Swansea, it's all 3G.

If I get the bolt on, and say download 1Mb at home (non 3G) will this go onto my bolt-on tariff or not?

Sounds awful but the girl I'm speaking isn't that good with English but I'm been patient with her!

Mines just slower if its not 3g, and ive never been charged different amounts.

Cheers knip, much appreciated.

And thanks wicksta, that map coverage is just what I wanted.

My understanding is that the only +side of the WIFI package is that you're allowed to use whichever device you want then i.e. laptops!! Downside is that the coverage is very limited when you compare it to 3g/GPRS. I'd only pick this option if you regularly goto cafes to work on your computer that use the relevant wifi.

If you only want to use the internet access through your phone I'd say it's a no brainer, go for the free web not the wifi!

The 200meg cap disappeared a couple of months ago. :) It's proper unlimited now as long as you are only using the phone for data.

What counts as data then?
And they really should tell their staff this, I only queried it a couple of weeks back at the most.

I have the Unlimited Web bolt on on PAYG with my E61i.

In the settings to get on the web there is either WAP or GPRS.....should there be an option for 3G?

(I had the settings sent from O2)

I'm not 100% on the technicalities, so may be talking balls, but I had that UNTIL I got a 3G SIM. Didn't notice anything different other than it says 3G on my signal where it used to say simply G.
