Hi guys

Hope you can help, my o2 BB went live today, im on the home access package (adsl) as im out of LLU coverage, and for the life of me i cant get my linksys wag54gs to connect?? the crappy live box they sent me works fine, I tried calling their customer service but was told "sorry, we dont support 3rd party routers" Do any of you clever people know what im doing wrong? I've had a look on google but cant find anything relating to adsl, only adsl2+. and those settings dont work.

Thanks in advance

thanks for the quick reply, but those are the settings i tried, but it still wont connect, i get a green light for adsl but a red light on internet and it refuses to connect the dsl connection

I had this problem with a Linksys WAG200G and couldn't get it working... after doing some research I learned that Linksys routers based on that chipset are terrible for ADSL2+ lines... with many dropped connections, and connection/speed issues in general.

I now have the O2's own router in and it's been a rock solid stable 3.8MB for 10 days without a single disconnection on my crummy line. The Linksys is getting sold!

Really i didnt think linksys were that bad for adsl2 mine wag54gs has been fine......

I didn't think they were either, but lots of problems have been reported on discussion boards. Shame, as mine was bullet-proof on standard ADSL.

the thing is im not on adsl2+ as im not in their LLU coverage, so im on the access system thats piggybacking bt wholesale, i think thats where the problem is as all the settings i find are for adsl2+. I can use the o2 box, but on most websites i have to refresh the page 5-10 times before it will be displayed?? thats why i wanted to try my trusty linksys.

Ive had the odd drop out but nothing major i have asked on the BE* forum for people to recommend a better router with a more compatable chip-set other than the BE* box as it over heats im told :)

Sent you and e mail in your trust Richdog.............................

The settings should be the same as for any other BTw ISP, i.e. VPI/VCI 0,38. What you'll need is the username and password that O2 have set.

hmmm, i tried that but it still wouldnt connect, someone told me that i need to leave the username and password blank, but the router wont save the settings without a username entered??

That's the case of O2's LLU, but you can't have a blank username on BT Wholesale - they need the realm to identify your ISP.

Finally got it sorted :) after 2 hours on the phone to o2 they gave me the settings i needed and its all working! Thanks for all your help and suggestions.
