O2 Broadband - any good on non LLU exchanges?

I would go as far as saying dreadful, that's from personal experience. Latency during gaming would be anything between 100/150ms, download speeds were dreadful. They've become over subscribed, however I left two months ago. Couldn't tell you what they're like now :p

I get really good speed in the day until about 5 pm, after that and at weekends the speed dips and the latency increases. It's due to the exchanges being over subscribed, which is beyond the control of O2 as BT manage the wholesale customers. I pay £12.50 a month for O2 Access which is a lot cheaper than anything else I can get (no LLU providers here) and at least O2 don't make things worse by traffic shaping.

It's more likely O2's Centrals that are congested rather than the exchange backhaul - if it was the latter, you'd see the same issue with any BT Wholesale ISP.

AIUI, O2 have ordered more capacity but are getting caught up by the lead time (measured in months).

Awful, i'm getting 120+ms pings and 1meg download speeds, April the 14th is fix day and if it doesn't happen i'm off!!!!!!!!

Lol, i just did a speedtest and got a decent result after saying all that!

I was with o2 for 2 months and it was very poor indeed. In the past I have used Zen, Ndo and Adsl24 and never suffered from high pings and below par performance but that is exactly what I got with o2's Access product. O2 have taken to many customers onto the Access package and the end result is they do not have enough capacity to serve everyone. I migrated out back to adsl24 2/3 weeks ago and instantly all my pings and slow speeds finished so I think that does prove that for the majority on the Access product the problem lies at o2's door. I really do hope that o2 fix the problem on the 14th April but in my discussions with them they stated that my poor performance was here to to because they had no date to unbundle my exchange ? This said to me that they are only really interested in keeping customers who can move onto their llu services.

Where is this April 14th date coming from? I know O2 make next to nothing on the Access product, I would love to switch to the LLU service but I can't see them enabling my exchange anytime soon, there are only 4,135 residential and 1,087 non-residential premises served by it.

I had awful speeds and latency issues on O2 Access. I left after 20 days under the 30 day money back guarantee and as soon as I switched providers my speeds and pings were fixed.

I'm on O2 access, it's getting much better now! Just did another speedtest just a second ago and it's still good! On a saturday!

Much happier than i was a week ago! I did have 2 months of rubbish speeds before though at peak times!
