I've been on O2 for just over a year now so I guessed they automatically renewed my contract?

Is the 2 months free offer only available to new customers or can I upgrade my old package (#15/month) to the newer package (#17.13/month) and receive 2 months free plus the wireless box iii?

No, your minimum term will have passed. After which they continue providing service, with either party having the option to terminate the service with 30 days notice.

Ask them. But £17.13pm is the discounted Pro package for O2 mobile customers, the discounted Premium package is only £9.79pm. Depending on your line you may not get any benefit from upgrading to Pro - the polished **** that is the Wireless Box III won't be worth upgrading for.
