O2 broadband, lag when gaming

Right i got a really annoying problem. We have just got O2 broadband (8MB) and whenever internet explorer is being used on any pc, my gaming lags like crazy. It is really weird....I dunno what to do. I was just playing WoW and somebody in the house turned on the pc and started browsing the net and bang, the lag hit me.

I am on Vista 64 bit if that's any use. Any ideas what the prob is?

Could potentially be downloading updates or stuff from newsgroups.
Alternatively your router could be having trouble managing the connections or suffering a QoS issue.
