Need some input in whether some of you o2 users are experiencing very bad speeds in the evening and weekends, its pretty much impossible for me to play online with the speeds i recieve during the evening, atm im at 0.69meg.

ofcourse when the package says "Upto X speeds" you cant really argue

yup its o2 access, im just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems, apparently its a nationwide problem to do with peer to peer downloading, and o2 are currently working on traffic management, but i didn't expect it to be this bad, after midnight my speeds go upto 7meg.

i transfered from aol about 4-5 months ago, because i thought you couldn't get worse than aol, shocking isp, but this is pushing it, the connection is stable, but the speeds arnt, i always get dc'd out of games, and have done since i transferred to o2.

o2 access has been crap since the year dot. it's well documented how awful it is. people just aren't researching before they sign up. :p

can't fault my LLU though. it's lovely. :D

How long has this been going on for? - theres been some major network problem during the past few days thats been causing slowdowns for a large number of O2 and BE customers and may affect some BT and Virgin customers - you should have got an email from your ISP about it.

LLU, Local Loop Unbundling :-

I have to say I sympathise with you m8, loads of complaints all over the net about O2 Access. Can't fault their LLU service though, as marc says.

Check your exchange m8, see if it is LLU enabled and look into moving over if it is.

yup i didnt just order o2, i looked into and thats all that is available for me, quite frustrating as im a keen with my games :(

i obviously mist the bit where it said o2 access was pants, i just knew o2 were getting very good reviews.

I'm on 20MB LLU and -- overall -- have been very pleased. Recently I've had a bit of trouble logging on for a minute or two when the router boots up in the evenings, but otherwise no problems.

I did worry a little yesterday though. I had an email offering me the ability to tie into another 12 month contract (I'm just finishing my first) with three months offered free. Given that I'm very happy with what I'm getting, it seemed too good to waste time thinking about. However in retrospect I did wonder why -- if things are working well -- anyone would need to be tempted to stay?

Maybe they know something I don't about my local area's capacity getting saturated? Or maybe I just worry too much. :-)

I'm on their Access package and it's naff. I'll be leaving them as soon as the contract is up. I can't get very good broadband around here, but at least when I was with Pipex there were no disconnections and the speed was always maxed.

It was expensive though, which is why I went with O2 when I had to start paying the bill. :P

What? If it's O2 Access there are dozens of ISPs - where did you "look into [it]"?

on all online review sites, but my exchange is limited to a few broadband packages, and o2 in general was getting good reviews, just didnt look into access enough i guess, now im stuck with them for another 8 months

No it hasn't, 12 months ago i got brilliant speeds and pings 24/7

Now they are crap.

OP: Disconnect and reconnect your router until you get an IP beginning with 188 see if things are any better.

oh well, you're out of contract and can move on. :)

and i'm only basing what i said on what i've read on various forums. you're the first person i've ever seen who has said o2 access was any good at one point. :p

What sites (or what exchange are you on)? They're either badly wrong or you misinterpreted what they were saying. The only exchanges that would be "limited to a few broadband packages" were activated under the Exchange Activate scheme and AFAIK O2 haven't had anything to do with them.
